so im boxing against a guy next week

i not scared of him at all but i've heard that if he sees you guarding your face to much h**l go for the body but if he sees you guarding your body too much he goes for the head

i know for sure that if goes for my body that i can get him with a strong jab because he leaves his face open

next my friends tell me that if he sees me with the jab that he wont back off and protect his face but he will still try to complete his punch to my body

so how should i fight against this guy?

should i keep my head moving and try to get him on open punches

  1. Grab a chair and move in for the kill

play to your strengths. If your faster, move faster than him.

  2. I'm not sure your friends know too much about boxing.

If you keep a sharp and repetitive jab in the guy's face, he WILL back up, and if you MOVE FORWARD BEHIND YOUR JAB he may trip on his own feet and fall down.  If you've got a jab in his face, he's going to try to protect it; he's not going to be trying to calculate how to throw his punch to your body.

It sounds like you're looking towards a school yard fight and your opponent will not be Miguel Cotto or Bernard Hopkins.  Most kids don't know how to fight worth a d**n.  They flail with their looping "punches" and shut their eyes when they throw.  If you hit them with ANYTHING more than a light slap they will probably have a momentary blackout and find themselves on the ground.

In other words, most of the guys you might need to fight can't punch and can't take a punch.

Keep your eyes OPEN, absorb what he throws, move forward behind a repetitive jab, and throw STRAIGHT punches with your fist tightly clenched.

If you hit the guy in the mouth and cut your hand on his teeth, go to a doctor right away to have the wound cleaned.  Human saliva is loaded with bacteria.  I have a friend who almost lost his arm from cutting his hand on a guy's teeth.

ONE MORE THING:  Keep your mouth shut and your teeth firmly clenched to avoid a broken jaw.

  3. I'm assuming you are a girl or woman (whatever you prefer) and that leads to my question is why are you fighting with a guy. He should know better than this. Sounds like a douche bag and you should hit him with a metal bat if he tries to hurt you.

if you wanna learn to box go to a boxing gym and learn there.
