We know he's retired, but doesn't look it's for good. Maybe he'll be back, but does boxing still needs him. Common guys need your opinion on this. Defend Floyd or put him down?

  1. Floyd retired because he thought he is the best, poor Floyd!

  2. HE WAS GOOD AS POUND 4 POUND CHAMP. ITS NOT GOOD TO SEE ANY ONE GO OUT OF THE SPORT..AS LIKE HIM OR NOT BOXING FANS SEE THAT HE WAS GOOD THE MASTER OF HIS GAME HE NEVER HAD A CUT OR A BROKEN NOSE....SO HE WAS THE BEST AT THAT...

BUT IF YOU LIKE MANNY STYLE I DO TO BUT RESPECT WHAT SKILLS THEY BRING..FLOYD WAS SLICK MAYBE THE BEST AT THAT STYLE FULL STOP.

  3. FIRST OFF, HOW CAN A BOXER BE CONSIDERED ONE OF THE GREATEST, IF HE DOESNT HAVE HEART OR LOVE FOR THE SPORT OF BOXING.. HIS 30 YEARS OLD IS NOT LIKE HE WAS 35 OR EVEN 33, HE STILL HAD A LOT TO PROVE.. THE REASON HE RETIRE, WE ALL KNEW GOOD WELTERWEIGHTS WHERE COMING UP AS GOOD CONTENDERS LIKE COTTO, AND MARGARITO TOO, AND THE REMATCH WITH DLH..HOW CAN A BOXER CANCEL A REMATCH BECAUSE HIS RETIRING?.. HIS EXCUSE WAS BECAUSE THERES NO GOOD BOXERS FOR HIM TO FIGHT.. BUT U JUST CANCEL AN UPCOMING REMATCH WITH DLH.. PLEASE I SAW THE FIGHT VS DLH HE DESERVE TO LOOSE HE DIDNT DOMINATED DLH WAS MOVING FORWARD EVERYTIME DLH WAS THROWING COMBOS CHEATING A55 MAYWEATHER KEPT HUGGING HIM.. BUT IN REALITY WE DONT NEED A BOXER LIKE HIM, WE ALREADY GOT LOTS OF IGNORANT SHHT TALKING BOXERS WITH NO CLASS.. THE ONLY REASON WE WANT DUCKING MAYWEATHER TO COME BACK FROM RETIREMENT IS JUST TO SEE HIM GET HIS A55 WHOOPED BY COTTO, OR MARGARITO THATS IT.. A TRUE BOXING FAN WOULD RECOGNIZE THAT MAYWEATHER COULD NEVER BE CONSIDERED ONE OF THE GREATEST BOXERS OF ALL TIME BECAUSE EVEN THE GREATEST BOXERS ALL TIME WERENT SCARED TO LOOSE. THEY JUST WANTED TO BOX AND GIVE IT THERE BEST. IF THEY LOST, THEY JUST TRAINED HARDER AND LEARN FROM THEIR MISTAKES. SO A FIGHTER LIKE MAYWEATHER WE DONT NEED.. HIS JUST A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF A MONEY HUNGRY, NO CLASS, IGNORANT BOXER.. AND BY HIM STAYING RETIRE ANSWERS THE QUESTION ABOUT HIM BEIGN DUCKING, COWARD BOXER.

  4. Another out cry because Cotto got put on his wet and mushy diaper. We know who you are, just Cotto fans p**s because he has a L and want PBF to get one. Rito is ducking Williams and I haven't herd not one person say anything about it. Rito haven't said anything, no wonder. Rito want a big pay day, avoids Williams and he complain about PBF doing it. It's funny how Cotto lost, first thing came out of the haters mouth, "PBF". Notice how they jump on the Rito band wagon, he will beat PBF. I just laugh every time I here a excuse or out cry. Evey one was so desperate for a champ because they didn't like PBF mouth and Cotto pays the price. Boo hooo at least he stepped in the ring with him and got his face took threw a meat grinder. If they keep crying, we will have another Noah flood. I just new Cotto was suppose to win because he beat that guy, news flash, styles make fights. He has a L deal with it.

  5. With boxing losing viewership to mma and just in genereal boxing needs mayweather but not if he is going to dodge top fighters and become hated as his performance at WWE showed. He is the best fighter out there but instead of becoming the next suger ray leonard and being a national hero, he has become a blowhard that can't cross over to other markets. and that is a problem when you are living in a recession and wanting people to spend money on a PPV fight. since his retirement the welter weight division has improved greatly because people are not waiting on him to decide who to fight next for the crown. They are actually fighting each other now

  6. if this question is for common people.. then yea boxing needs Mayweather but the key factor here is "at the right time" for example.. right now, he is retire but honestly that wont last. Lets say PACMAN fights DLH then surely Floyd will come out of retirement if pacman wins (what are the chances of that.. ??) Floyd attracts people to boxing and that is good for the sport

for the hardcore fans.. we dont need him around, we have Cotto, Margarito, Clottey, Judah, Williams, Citron, etc.. there are too many guys willing to fight each other in the welterweight division.. so Floyd can be in retirement if he wants.. who cares..

  7. For all you people who say Floyd ducked all these so called great fighters  he beat everyone they put in front of him he will be back and he will do the same thing he has always done win. How can you hate on a winner I don,t get it. I know it,s more than boxing you can take off those sheets now we know who you are

  8. didnt floyd win something like 5 belts across 6 diff. weight classes? undefeated in his pro career, how could he not be considered great?

  9. Floyd cannot beat Cotto or Margarito, he knew this before he retired. He is already rich so why come back just to get beat. Floyd unlike great fighters does not seem to care about his status as an all time great, Floyd admitted openly that he was about the money, as his moniker Money Mayweather would suggest.

Guys like Leonard came to back to prove they were still the best, their pride was so big they had to prove they could beat the new top dogs on the block. I just dont think Mayweather cares enough, he retired before and has always talked about retiring, his heart was never in the sport.

But the lure of a big pay day might get him back in the ring. Or perhaps his love of the spot light will bring him back. But I just dont think he cares.

Does boxing need him? No. Floyd in my mind is still just a slick boxer with no heart who carefully picked his opponents based on who would best fit his style. He would grab a belt from one of the weaker champions in the division avoid the dangerous fighters and move on.  He avoided Kostya Tszyu like the Plague, now he is avoiding Cotto and Margarito.

One fighter I do give Floyd props for fighting is Zab Judah, but he did originally avoid Zab until Cory Spinks and Baldomir beat him, then he decided he could beat Judah.

I don't want to unfairly single out Floyd because there has been other good fighters who have taken the same route. The Safe one. But to say Floyd played it safe is an understatement.

He should never be considered great because of the fact that It would be an insult to true great fighters who fought everyone their division had to offer and even fought guys that people thought they couldn't beat. That is why the great fighters have losses is because they took on all comers and beat the odds, not just confirmed the odds.

I enjoyed watching the mastery of defense that Floyd used in the ring, but I also wanted to see it tested against some of the dangerous fighters he avoided.

The only thing exciting about a Floyd fight was the possibility of seeing him Lose.

  10. We don't need him, he went threw his carreer ducking the best fighters. The only real Boxer he ever went up agaist was De la Hoya and he got a lucky decision.  Now we got true warriors in the welter weight, like Cotto, Margarito, Williams, Clotty, Cintron, etc..... I don't think Mayweather could beat any of these fighters. He made a wise desicion in retireing because he could have lost his undefeated record.

  11. I don't know why people keep saying Floyd ducks fighters. People wanted to see him fight De La Hoya, he fought and dominated him. Then people criticized him for retiring without having fought Ricky Hatton. He came back and destroyed hatton. Then it was all the Cotto talk. Cotto lost to Margarito, so now everyone is saying he can't beat Margarito. People need to give Floyd his props for being one of the best ever.

    P.S.

Oscar De La Hoya would be a coward if he fights the smaller Pacquiao, when clearly he's been called out by Margarito.
