Boxing icon Carl Froch reveals his passion for snooker – Snooker News
The WBC Super Middleweight champion from Nottingham, Carl Froch, has revealed his passion for snooker and has said he loves to play and watch the stylish game.
Froch, who is also known as ‘the Cobra’, said, "I like individual sports where you have to be mentally tough and confident. If you approach them with a negative attitude, you are going
to end up in a hole you can't dig yourself out of. In that respect, snooker is a lot like boxing."
The 33-year-old Froch added, "I used to be fixated with Steve Davis and Jimmy White, then later on with Ronnie O'Sullivan," he said. "As a kid, I wondered how great it would be to do something
you enjoy for a living. I never made it as a snooker player - but I ended up doing that anway as a boxer.”
The 6-feet-1-inch Englishman also admitted that he still loves to play snooker and tries to have a game whenever possible. He said it’s the best way for him to relax and release some pressure.
The world’s number forty-three, Michael Holt, who is also fromthe same town as Froch, is a sparring partner for the boxing star on the green baize. Froch also commented on Holt, who won
the Players Tour Championship event in Prague earlier this season. He said he doesn’t get too much of a chance to play with him, as he is very good but on the same note he claimed Holt has a very good sense of humour. He also told the media he wants to see
him winning tournaments.
Froch, who has only lost one fight out of the twenty-eight bouts so far, desires to have a snooker table at his home. Though he already has a pool table, he said he would love to have
a snooker table as well.
In the meanwhile Froch, who is now in training for a showdown with Glen Johnson in June, expressed his love for the Crucible Theatre saying he would love to watch the World Snooker Championship
in Sheffield but somehow it always clashes with his fighting schedule.
