Boxing news: Ricky Hatton bids farewell to his fighting career
Ricky Hatton has declared that he will not fight again, as his days of prime are over now. The former light welterweight world champion boxer from England, Hatton is done with boxing and feels like he is lacking the required interest and strength to get into the boxing ring again.
The 31-year-old Briton is now lacking the necessary courage to fight. It is to be remembered that Hatton has also won the WBA (World Boxing Association) welterweight title. The veteran boxer has never fought since losing from Manny Pacquiao after a dreadful fight in May 2009.
In a very recent interview the 31-year-old British ace boxer told the media and expressed his views about his future career in a state of despair. While talking about his feelings and ambitions for the boxing future Hatton said that it is never too late, and we cannot say that we are out of our game. He later added that he is no more interested in fighting but he will be in relation with boxing, as he is intending to coach the upcoming boxers and to make new world champions for the world of boxing. He said that he is done with his fighting career, and now he is concentrating on training and making young boxers the new world champs. Later the champ boxer added that he has not fought for previous sixteen months, and the world can consider him as retired, and he no more intends to challenge anyone in the coming future. The former welterweight world champion Hatton has a very good reputation and his fans around the world are showing that the fighters of his calibre are hard to find. It is to be remembered that Ricky had once announced that he would be making a strong return to the boxing ring but now it seems like he has lost all the essential spirit to go for a strong bout. When Ricky was asked about his announcement of getting back from the world of fighting, he admitted the fact by saying that he still remembers his announcement about making a comeback. He had joined the training camp for training and improving his physical fitness for 4 weeks but he couldn’t succeed in retaining his form. He said that he lost the mental and physical balance that is required for the game and that is probably the only reason he is not intending to fight professionally again.
Despite of Ricky’s clear indication of retiring from the international boxing scene, his fans are still hoping to see him back in action. Ricky has already given his fans a hint about his possible comeback by saying that he has renewed his boxing licence, and it will only be possible if he could give his career another go. He said that he fights only when he will feels himself in a position of giving his rival a strong challenge. The reports about Hatton’s retirement from the boxing circuit were already in the air, especially after when he suffered a thrashing defeat from Floyd Mayweather in December 2007 for the title of WBC world welterweight. But after the defeat Hatton worked hard and showed his sheer power and smashing determination by beating Juan Lazcano and Pauli Malignaggi in the format of light welterweight boxing.
Boxing needs courage and strength along with stamina. To keep the winning streak in the world of boxing, a boxer should feel the eagerness and right amount of adrenaline rush to knock his opponent out. In the case of 31-year-old English veteran boxer Ricky Hatton; he has lost an ample amount of charm for his loved sport, which according to him might be temporary. As a fan a person can only hope to see him in the boxing ring again.
