have been working out in my garage for awile doing boxing. i have a heavy bag, speed and double end bag. i would really appreciate some help on a training routine that trained boxers use. i also have a mirror for shadowboxing. i run in the morning and train at night. im not training to become a world champ or anything i just really love boxing and someday will do toughman. i do train hard and push myself i just need help on a set routine that i can switch around every month like i have been so i dont just go through the motions. im a bjj brown belt and have fought in a lot of grappling matches. but college and wrestling are taking up my time so i cant go to a boxing gym and the closest 1 is 40 mins. away. i have 1 guy i spar with once every 2 weeks who does martial arts. i do pretty good and i am trying teaching myself the right things. im sure i have bad habits but who doesnt. thank you very much.

  1. The basic boxing training routine should be like this:

    1.  Early morning roadwork, that is, running and some shadowboxing and calisthenics.  The distance and speed of your run should depend on your physical condition although boxers normally do between 2 to 5 miles.

    2.  Afternoon gym work, which consists of:

    a) Stretching/calisthenics

    b) Shadowboxing

    c) Mitt-punching with your trainer

    d) Heavy bag

    e) Speed bag

    f)  Double-end bag

    g) Jump rope

    h) Abdominal exercises

    i)  Sparring (optional)

Each of these routines should be done in 3-minute sets with a minute's rest in between to simulate actual boxing rounds.  Again, the number of sets should depend on your condition and pacing.  Hope this helps.
