Boxing sport question?

why do they put to fight one guy short versus a tall ? it's really frustating for them an for me.

  1. boxing goes by weight divisions not by height. there are different strategies for different types of people. that's the science of boxing

In boxing, height does not matter, only weight.  You could be a 5 foot, 9 inch heavyweight like James Toney, or you could be over 6 feet and fight at middleweight like Kelly Pavlik.  As long as the two fighters make weight, then they can get into the ring and fight each other.  And in the case of heavyweights, there is no weight limit.  So, technically, you could have the 5 foot, 9 inch James Toney fight the 7 foot Nicolay Valuev (that won't happen, but it IS possible).  It can be frustrating, but thats part of the sport and it always has been, and if the fighter really doesn't like it, then he could always try another weight class (there are 17 currently).

  3. Because weight, not height, is what matters most.
