  1. Be confident. Power isn't everything. Maybe work on your endurance more. Even though your punches may be weaker than his, but if you're conditioned enough, you can last a lot longer than him and keep throwing combinations at him. Eventually it'll get to him and he'll start feeling the pain. Your friend does really have a big weight advantage over you but if you're brave you can still take him on. When he throws his power punch which is probably the straight right if he's orthodox, step in, never step back, and throw fast body shots. He's probably gonna cover up his body so when he lowers his guard, throw hooks at his head. Hope this helped. Shadowboxing with weights makes your punch harder and also increases your speed.

  2. If you want power without sacrificing speed then working on your "core muscles" doing "core work" is what you're going to have to do dude.  10 sets of 10 daily on every thing.  I've given this advice to every new fighter I meet.  With out core work you're dead in the water man.  You can expect to see real results within the first couple of weeks say 3 - 5 weeks and that's sticking to core work a good 2 hours a day 6 or 7 days a week too man.  If you're not willing to do core work outs then maybe you should stick to some thing like checkers or chess and leave contact sports to those who know the importance of "core work"

    Good Luck dude!!

  3. learn to counter punch really well and stay outside of his reach. He does have a tremendous advantage if you try to stay and exchange with him.  Some heavy bag training and overall body positioning will help your punching power. kick his @$$

  4. Work on your defense, try to slip his punches and make him miss. You want him to tire out before you start to mount a major offensive stand. You should jab like h**l throughout the fight, try to use your speed and agility to get you in for a quick jab and then out ASAP. If you do throw a power shot you need to work the body. You can effectively take away a lot of a fighters power by consistantly working the body hard. Aim for his rib cage and sternum. I won't lie to you, making up for a weight advantage that large is going to be very difficult, but if your smart you can pull it off. Good luck man.

  5. Your friend has such a big weight advantage that it is not surprising that he beat you.  I'd suggest that, in the future, you fight guys of your own weight class or near your weight.  If you do fight him again, work on your defense, so that he can't get his power punches in, and perhaps fight as an outfighter, mainly keeping your distance and moving in to punch him, then moving out fast.
