  1. Matters what kinda boxer. Shannon Briggs has actually fought in k-1 under kick boxing rules and won. But then again he fought a guy who wasnt trained in kick boxing. he was an wrestler who wasnt allowed to go for takedowns since it was K-1 rules. Briggs won.

Boxers have ability to beat kick boxers but boxers who have boxing stances like Bernard Hopkins wouldnt last 1 round in a kick boxing match. Vince Phillips fought this Asian kickboxer and got mauled by the leg kicks of the Asian guy. That is the huge weakness for boxers is the leg kick. If they cannot defend the Leg kick and the side of thier body from kicks they will lose.

Boxers have better head defense than kick boxers generally.

Boxers generally arent use to defending thier legs from attacks unlike in kick boxing.

one of the klitchkos was a kickboxer. Thats what i know of.

  2. Can I tell you from experience a boxer will win I did it against a lot of kick boxers I fought in some tough man contest back in the day and we had to fight all types of styles. The only problem I had was when they would kick me on my calve. It weakens your leg real fast and there is no way to avoid all of the kicks so you have to be able to take it until you catch them with something hot. Funny story when I was fighting this one guy he was kicking me real hard so after he kicks me this one time I kick him back the rules were if you had on boxing shoes or any kind of shoe you could not kick so they took a point from me I knock the guy out in the next round true story

  3. a kickboxer would win most likely because the know how to clinch and throw knees and kicks, and elbows, boxers dont know to defend that sort of attack because they only defend punches, if you try to punch a guy while he hits you with continous leg kicks than it will take it tole.

  4. I agree, it is a tough question. I'd have to say that it depends on who the boxer is. The kickboxer would most definitely leave himself open to a counter when he attempts a kick against a well skilled boxer/puncher. Every time he attempted a kick, he would be vulnerable to a counter attack. Remember, a fighter has the ability to get in and under his opponent and deliver damaging blows from close quarters.

I'm not taking anything from the kickboxer, I just think that trying to kick at a seasoned fighter (such as Cotto, Mayweather, Margarito) would be a disadvantage for the kickboxer ... a painful disadvantage. There isn't much one can do when he gets caught with one foot off the floor.
