  1. There have been a lot of great answers to your question already.  Here are a few that I think were controversial decisions:

Ramirez vs Whitaker.  Whitaker was robbed.

Holmes vs M. Spinks 2.    I always thought Holmes deserved the decision in that fight.

Louis vs Walcott 1.  Jersey Joe beat Joe that night.

Ali vs Norton 3.  Not so sure Ali deserved the nod in that fight.

Hearns vs Leonard 2.  Hearns was the better man that fight and even Leonard admitted it.

    Good question sir

  2. Jose Luis Castillio v Floyd Mayweather  1....... Castillio dominated the entire fight with constant body punches that left mayweather protecting himself rather than fighting (similar to the Casamayor v Santa Cruz fight)..... there was rounds where mayweather just looked overmatched fighting bigger heavier fighters and the fans showed how the felt when the fight was over, so much so a rematch was pretty much ordered from the Top Dogs of boxing ...and i know Floyd started talking Jive about his hand hurting but all fighters do when they lose or fight poorly.... It was a Class A robbing that can hardly be compared............also i hate to ruffle feathers here but i notice a gang mentallity of thinking Whittaker got robbed in every fight he ever lost...now i respect his ability but the guy ran around the ring, clinching and holding almost the entire fight...the only punches he ever landed against great fighters was basically the jab and maybe a counter but thats if he didnt run first.... durning Whittakers career judges were getting a reputation for not giving fights to RUnners(case in point Delahoya v Trinidad a few years later or any of the fights Sweet Pea supposedly got robbed in) so it always amuses me to hear it ..... now i will admit i have a bias against Runners and love My mexican fighters, but mostly American judges are the ones who robbed Sweet Pea ....most of the people i notice who say this also say the same about Winky wright and also think 190 pound Marciano could beat todays heavyweights..... sorry to step on toes but i had to comment

  3. castillo vs mayweather 1 is the worst robbery http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2sZVx05B...

  4. Wow, there are a few that come to mind: SD= split decision, UD= unanimous decision, D= draw

Joel Casamayor SD Jose Armando Santa Cruz

    Demetrius Hopkins UD Steve Forbes

Muhammad Ali SD Ken Norton (2nd and 3rd fights, especially their third fight)

Joe Louis SD Jersey Joe Walcott (first fight)

    Muhammad Ali UD Jimmy Young

    James Toney SD Dave Tiberi

Pernell Whitaker D Julio Cesar Chavez

Lennox Lewis D Evander Holyfield (first fight)

Courtney Burton SD Emmanuel Augustus (first fight)

Almazbek Raiymkulov ("Kid Diamond") SD Miguel Huerta

There are many other controversial decisions, but all of the ones that I listed were clear cut robberies, meaning that EVERYONE (except the judges) who saw the fight believed that the other guy should have won.  In the case of the two draws, the true winners were Whitaker, and Lewis.

  5. Marvin Haglar vs Sugar Ray Leonard

    Marvin was Robbed

  6. Far and away the worst one I ever watched was James Toney vs Dave Tiberi.  Tiberi won every round going away, and Toney some how got the decision, it caused a Congressional hearing on boxing corruption it was so bad.

Other terrible ones were DeLa Hoya's win over Pernell Whitaker, Whitaker clearly beat Oscar, it was worse in person than what you see on the tape, but even on the tape Pernell won 7 of the 12 with a knockdown, but Oscar got the nod.  I gave Oscar 7 of 12 against Tito but Oscar ran for the last four rounds, so they gave the decision to Trinidad, I thought Oscar won it.  At least it showed Oscar wasn't invulnerable to the corruption in boxing, Don King was in Tito's corner, and that made the difference that night.

Three of the worst draws were Julio Cesar Chavez/Pernell Whitaker, Pernell won every round and got robbed, and Thomas Hearns/Ray Leonard II, even Ray admitted he lost that one, and Evander Holyfield/Lennox Lewis, Lewis clearly took 7 rounds and the rest were razor thin, I gave that fight to Lewis by 3 pts, but the scorekeepers must have been watching a different one and called it a draw.

  7. I wouldn't call the Pernell Whitaker vs De La Hoya fight a controversial one. I felt that Oscar got a close, but sort of clear win over Whitaker. Even Whitaker's corner told Pernell that they were losing the fight in between rounds 10 and 11. The fight was difficult to judge. In my mind there was no question Oscar had won the fight, but the fight was closer than what the judges had it.  I gave De La Hoya 7 rounds to 5.

De La Hoya-Trinidad was a bad decision. Trinidad's win over De La Hoya is all Don King's BS. Since when do the last three rounds matter more than the first 9? I defy anybody who gave Trinidad more than 2 out of the first 9 and I would argue a De La Hoya victory with anyone.

Mayweather vs Castillo- Even though Mayweather's hand was broken, we all saw a winner(Castillo)

Chavez vs Whitaker- just a horrible decision.

  8. the babble's and another Babble are back I see lol, most controversial dec was Liston taking a dive, not once but twice and people still put Ali down as a hero!!also why wasnt he disqualified for Dundee splitting Ali glove against cooper?? babab at least 5 of these thumbs down are the great Bablles alter ego's noone has achance cos you and others are working for yahoo answers ya cheat,Journalists spoil this site,I bet that's why ya hate Tyson cos he probably give ya a slap for being a nuisance haha

  9. De La Hoya vs. Trinidad - I don't agree with Oscar's strategy for the last 3 rounds.  But Tito knows he got a boxing lesson for 3/4 of the fight.

Castillo vs. Mayweather I - the pounding shown on the video, and Mayweather's excuses, speak for themselves.  Mayweather's antics and hype make this one all the worse.

  10. controversial decisions in boxing have been a part of the sport just  like bad calls by refs and umps in footbal, basketball, and baseball...we are just spectators and we will always debate / argue the calls / decisions among our peers, its what makes sports interesting and exciting topic to the fans.

  11. larry holmes rematch with michael spinks (just watched it recently so it's fresh in my mind).

jeff fenech - azumah nelson 1

pernel whitaker - jose luis rameriz 1 ( whitaker won by a virtual shutout)

  12. Manny paquiao vs Marquez, the last one...i still think Marquez took it....

  13. The saddest, most heart-wrenching decision I've ever seen was Shannon Briggs being given the GIFT of a decision over George Foreman in what was to become George's "retirement fight".  Foreman sent Briggs (a giant of a man) from pillar to post in that fight. . . .. and I think anyone who believes the judges got that one right need their drivers licences taken away!

Honorable mention:  Vernon Forrest getting the nod over Ike Quartey. . . .
