Question:

Boy and girl - Jesse and Jessica?

We have a little 1 1/2 yr old named Jesse and I am preg. with our second child. We really hope it's a girl. My husband really wants to name her Jessica if it is a girl. I like it and I don't because lots of people go by Jesse for short when they are girls. WHAT DO YOU THINK?

  1. That is undoubtably WAY too similar. It sounds very cheesy and matchy, to be honest.  Every Jessica that I know (and I know a lot) goes by Jessie for short.  I would not want all that confusion.

  2. Please think of your son before doing this. He had Jesse first and it should remain his alone.

  3. I agree with you. Why not use Jasmine or Jackie?

  4. Yes the names are too alike

Jessica is usually shortened to Jesse

Maybe you could have Jessica as a middle name

    xx

  5. well...i have no idea

    try jasmine or jackie

  6. ya..alot of ppl use that for a nickname and it will get old between the two of them really fast... what about Jamie Jocelyn or Jaquelyn

  7. I like the name Jessica! But for a nick name you would need to do Jess so it isnt the same as your sons. COngratulations!

  8. every Jessica I know goes by Jesse, including my sister

  9. I agree with you think about these other J names-

    Jadalynn

    Jaelynn

    Jasmine

    Jaida

    Jenessa

    Jerusha

    Jessa

    Good luck

  10. I vote on Julia. It's a beautiful name. Julia Elizabeth :)

  11. Jessica is not a bad name... but ya too close to have a jesse also, My name is jessica and i get jess and jesse all the time, plus the kids will prob be confused and might be teased......

  12. I agree. It will get confusing if you say "Jesse!!" Because then both kids will come running...

    There are many other names:

    Jennifer

    Jasmine

    Jolie

    Joanna

    Jillian

    Juliana

    Jemma

    Julie  (my name!)

    Jenna

    Congrats!!

    ~Julie

  13. What about something like Jasmine or Jemma? It might be a bit too confusing with 2 Jess's.

  14. Jesse is a very common nn for Jessica, so I wouldn't advise it. They are way too similar. How about Jenny? Jenny and Jesse would sound really cute together without being too matchy. Or maybe:

    Jazlyn

    Jasmine

    Janessa

    Jennifer

    Janey

    Jemma

    Jalyssa

    Janaya

    Juliet

    Julie

    Julia

    Jenna

    Jezzabel

If its a boy how about:

    James

    Jacob

    Jerrek

    Jedidiah

    Jeremiah

    Josiah

    Jemery

    Jonovan

    Johnathan

    Jackson

    Jamie

    Jeffrey

Good luck, God bless, and congrats! :o)

  15. i think that this might cause a little jelousy in your son. he might feel that he is not good enough for you and you are trying to replace him (common in sibling rivalry).

it will also cause confusion as they grow older. first when people call call thier names, and secondly when mail comes addressed to them as they will have the same initials. this can cause immense embarrassment if the mail is of a personal nature.

  16. Most of the Jessica's I've met like to be called Jessie for short.  I think you should do Jenifer or Jeanelle instead so the names are not alike.

  17. Yea, i agree. her friends will be calling her Jesse. :D

How about Jaclyn(my name) or Jamie?

    :D

    Congrats!

  18. I think it's way too similar to Jesse.  Little Jesse deserves his "own" name.

Maybe Jennifer, Heather, Julie, Jenna... These are similar.

  19. I agree. My full name is Jessica, but I've always gone by Jessie or Jess. It would be cruel to name your son Jesse and your daughter Jessica. I would keep looking for a different J name. What about Jennifer? Or Jacqueline? Or Julie, Julia, Juliet, Jaime, Jenna, Jemma, Janie?

    Just not Jessica.

    Good luck!

  20. i think it's cute to name your kids similar names when there close in age but i wouldn't do jess and jessica may be:

jasmine, jesline, cassie, krisity or something to that nature but i know a lot of girls that are names jessica and call themsleve jesse for short it's just too much

  21. I agree with your reasoning against it. The names are just too similar

  22. i wouldn't name her jessica.

jessie is often used as a nickname for jessica

my bestfriend's name is jessica and we just call her jessie

my friend jessie always wanted her name to be summer.

but you may have different taste in names

    jesse and jessie

would just be a little odd

i would go for a different more original name like mine for instance

    my name is kiston

not a lot of people have my name

i hope i was of some kind of help.

    good luck

  23. I would avoid using it, at least as a first name. You already have a Jesse, meaning any name like it, like Jessica is out. That's what sucks about picking a name- you always have to give one up. Surely there are other names ya'll like. Then again, I know a Taseen and Yaseen, brother and sister, not twins. But still, I would avoid it.

  24. I think it's too much like your first child's name. I think you should give them their own special name, not one that's almost the same. She will feel cheated for not getting her own different name.

but to each their own! Good luck! :)

  25. I agree with you. Try to compromise on a different "J" name?
