Boy held for posting remarks on Sonia gandhi @ Orkut.What kind of democracy is this?

This is a very serious issue people.

An IT professional said something against Sonia Gandhi at the famous social networking site and he has been taken into jail for this.

I just cannot understand it.That means we have to shut our mouths even on internet.This is a blatant blow to our freedom of speech and or so called "democratic rights".

But no.These guys are taking educated people into jails for this.Can you believe it.

The real criminals in this country live freely and the talented people get into trouble.

Please help to save this guy.This is insane.

democracy doesn't mean that you have a right to abuse any

body, you can have right to have your own remarks/suggestions but before you going to offer this you must reach up to the same destination as the person, against whom you are  going to do so.

Probably not the right place to post this. However ...

Not knowing all the facts it would appear to be a severe breech of the demoratic right to free speech, one of the basic tenets of a true democracy.  However in reality, the right free speech has been modified by among other things, laws of slander and libel, govt and political interference, religious principles and rules, (ridiculous) political correctness law applications etc.

So somebody gets jailed for expressing their opinions, given the above it is hardly surprising.  Not good but not surprising.

At 22, he is not a boy, but a man & should know better than to slander or post obscene remarks about anyone. The problem is, people think they can go about ruining other's reutations without a second thought. You should accept the fact that it was an unwise thing to do. I hope he learns his lesson.

Let the war be taken to the courts. Why not Jaitley file an SLP in the Supreme Court of India seeking a writ against the government for the protection of the right to speech and freedom of expression. Perhaps Ram Jethmalani could do it.

u have given the links where this matter has been reportedand the comments of other people about it. but what did the person write. the comments of yahoo answer cricket depends on that. In any case  democracy does not mean that u can do and anything u want. there have to be some limits to decency. further comments are not possible unless I see what has actully been writtern. But if it is really Vulgar and Indecent, may be an ordinary person can also sue the writer.if any thing indecent and vulgar has been writtern in a public form against him/her without any proof.

also, i would like to point out that this question whould have been in poltics and government section and not in the cricket section ( sports ) slandering against any one is not a sport
