  4. Depends. I like both of them a lot. I think Valentine is more distinctive, but Raphael will fit in a bit better. Which nicknames do you like? Do you have middle name ideas, or would you like to combine these two (Use Raphael Valentine, or Valentine Raphael)? How do they sound with your last name? If I was picking for myself, I would use Valentine because I like the nicknames Val and Tino, and I think it sounds better with my last name.

  5. raphael - hero in a half shell TURTLE POWER - be serious

  8. i think Raphael. It's actually a beautiful name and is really unique. Let me just add as an alternative I've always loved the name Elliot.

  9. Your hormones must be all over the show - sorry - both will hinder your new baby for life! Can you honestly think that a man in a serious job would ever progress with either of the names! Fine though if you has no aspirations for him.

  10. Raphael

  11. I have got to say, I think some of the responses to your question are particularly rude and unkind. Names are a personal choice and, just because someone else doesn't like your choice, don't be put off.

Personally, I prefer Raphael. There are a number of Raphaels around - for example Rapha Benitez - who hasn't done too badly for himself!  It does depend on your surname though - you want his full name to have a nice rhythm. Make sure you don't give him a set of initials that spell anything horrid. I have a friend whose initials are PNS - and he's taken stick about it all his life! Also, make sure his names don't combine into something else. I also knew someone once who called her daughter Lauren Jade. Nice names, both of them, but when combined they sound like a French drink (l'orangeade)!

More to the point, good luck with the happy event!!!

  12. Raphael is the better. I think that a boy will get stick for being called Valentine! Its up to you tho, this is just my opinion.

  13. Raphael. Valentine just doesn't strike my fancy. and there are plenty of cute nicknames for Raphael.

  14. well congrats!!!!!!!!!!!

i personally prefer Raphael to Valentine.

    but your choice

    good luck!

  15. Raphael would be alright. Just plain Ralph would be better.

  16. Either is nice.  I like that they're both familiar and not heard very often.

My pick would have to be Raphael, though.  I love that it shortens to the dashing Raff as a nickname.

I'd be a little afraid of Valentine encountering a bit more teasing for his name, especially around a certain holiday.

  17. i don't really like either, but if i had to choose, i'd go with raphael, just because it sounds the most boyish out of the two.

  18. I hope your kid enjoys being made fun of his entire life.

Seriously, what are you thinking? I know in your mind the names are "cute LOLZ" but this kid has to live with them. Be real.

edit: I get thumbs down for being brutally honest? Think realistically, how many of you would want to be named "Valentine"? It's not fair to do that to a kid.

  19. Raphael

  20. How about...  NO!!

Think about the poor child who has to grow up with other kids taking the p**s out of his name...  I had to deal with that c**p, and it's not recommended.

Be serious when choosing a name.

  21. Raphael sounds like 1 of the ninja turttles and if u chose valentine  he will get made fun of! :(

  22. i think i prefer raphael (as in the painter and spanish tennis player)  though i have a friend named valentine as it really suits him.  hes a really cool guy,  either.

  23. Neither! Name your son either of those, especially Valentine, and he will be severely mocked in school! How about Logan, or Austin or something normal like that?

  24. Raphael.

please don't pay attention to those that are completely rude in their answer. there is no need to be so childish about it.

you have every right to pick a name that makes you happy. it doesn't matter what negative things others might say.

i personally don't like either name, but he's not going to be my son either so i refuse to be rude about it.

    ~congrats.

    edit:

Plague- perhaps you weren't TD for being "honest" as you call it. but rather for your lack of tactfulness about it. there are ways of saying, "sorry, i dont dig those names at all" w/out being a child and/or insulting. thus your TD. you earned them IMHO.

  25. Personal choice neither, however if I had to pick one

    Raphael

  26. Raphael

  27. Good God, i hope you arent serious! These names are hideous. this is borderline child abuse!

  28. I would go with Raphael, but it seems a bit outdated.

    Answer mine please?

  29. Raphael for sure. It is a very cool and chic name. Valentine will not be very socially excepted. It is very feminine sounding. Think of little Valentine going to first grade. Yikes for him. Raphael is awesome. Go with it! Good Luck!

  30. Raphael cos you can shorten it to Raffy which is quite sweet. Val is a bit pants for a boy's name.
