  1. Confidence is the key! No one likes to talk to someone who looks afraid or unapproachable. As long as you are sure you want to take these ballet lessons, go right on in! Girls won't dislike you, they'll flock to you, if anything. However, check with the studio you're going to if you have to wear a leotard and tights, they may only require a form fitting t-shirt and tight pants. Good luck!

  2. dude grow a set. your in your 20's.

  3. The girls inside will adore you.  Do you know how hard it is to find a boy willing to dance?  And a lot of choreography involves partner work, so finding talented boy dancers is so important, but so hard.  They'll be jealous of whatever studio you're going to!

  4. i am a dancer and have been for 11 years. i started at a very Young age. you should not feel embarrassed because have you seen the male dancers they are in no way girlie. they are athletes. go into the shop with pride and don't have the thought that you will get laughed at go in with a positive attitude. hey look on the bright side at least you don't have to wear point shoes they really hurt your feet.

  5. I agree with all the girls here.  But, if you're really concerned, my suggestion would be to order online.  Many -if not all- online dance retailers sell men's apparel and shoes as well.  If you're not sure what size you should be wearing, there are size charts.  You'll just have to get a measuring tape to be sure.  My favorite is www.discountdance.com

I know there are also online forums for male dancers, unfortunately, I don't know of any specifically to direct you to.  But it's worth a google search to get some friendly support and suggestions.

  6. The studio that I go to has trouble finding guys for partnering and such. I wish I met more male dancers!

  7. I see boys in dance stores all the time. I also dance with a few. I never think of them any differently because of their gender. If they love to dance, then why should the fact that they are male stop them from doing it?

You shouldn't be concerned about what other people think of you, because their opinion doesn't matter. Only your opinion on yourself counts.

If you feel uncomfortable about wearing a leotard and tights, you could talk to your studio director or mom about other attire options.

I hope this is helpful. Good luck!

  8. Honestly...

Most girls will think that is is pretty cool!

ANd really even if they dont who cares? You get to dance will pretty girls, have fun, and it really doesnt matter.

    HAve a little confidence.

  9. People will notice you more if you're sitting outside it, but they won't notice if youre inside it already. Also, if people see you outside, they will think you're too scared to go inside.

Girls are always happy to see a guy who can dance. They will probably even love you even more because girls understand how hard it is for guys to do something like that and the courage it takes is enormous. Go show them who you are and don't be afraid!

    Good Luck!

  10. U R a "boy"? in your 20's?!  Boys in their 20's are normally called and refer to themselves as "men".You sure don't sound like one....more like 13 or something.  A grown man in his 20's would not be the least bit intimidated by going into a dance store.  Clerks deal with men all the time and it is no big deal.  Same with the customers...most young women are happy to see a man in their dance studio - not just for socializing etc., but for potential partner work which they need.

Please grow up and enjoy your dance experience.
