My boyfriend has had his growing teenage brother spend about 5-6 weeks with him over the summer. So he has spent all the money feeding him and such, (growing boy eats a ton!!). That wasn't so bad since he enjoys his company and he doesn't really see him during the school year. I don't know if there's "more to the story" as to why his parents have no problem dropping him off for a very long extended period of time, and extend the date on when they can pick him up. But that's not the full point here..
I was sitting on the bed with my boyfriend when he received a text from his mom, he opened it and his text read, "Can I borrow $50? Not sure about repayment." I found this odd. His parents both work full time, only have one kid living at home, and somehow have enough money to buy new cars and his mom goes on vacation to Cancun and to a cabin with her girlfriends. So why is she now asking for money from her 23 year old son? I mean, $50, no biggie, it's family... I could fork that over np, but I'm more worried about this becoming an issue in the future if I continue to be with him... if he starts to drop money all the time for his mom who clearly thinks she has enough to go on beachside vacations occassionally and buy new SUVs. I would think since she didn't have a mouth to feed (his younger brother) for 6 weeks, she would've saved $50...
Again I'm not too worried about this particular situation, just wondering if this could be signs to a beginning of a lifelong struggle.
