Boyfriend and i are having a baby boy...

Question

He wants to name our son after himself, which would make our son the fourth. His last is Ahmed by the way.

I don't like when people name their kids after themselves. I think the child should have their own identity. I want to name our son either Dante, Giovanni or Nathaniel.

What should we do?

i also think it's stupid to name your kid after there father...

give the kid the name you want and then for his middle name....name him after your husband...

Out of the ones you like, I would pick Nathaniel. That way he could go by Nathan, or Nat. Some names I like are...

Ethan

Cole

Tyler

Austin

Yea,id name my baby the name I picked out.Were the ones who go through the labor,not them...so they can just get over it!

Name him Nathaniel! I'm not naming my kids after their dad..i think it is crazy exspecially if it goes on and on..that just too much..

you need to make a compromise with your boyfriend

I know some one that name there son after the father by using the dad middle name first name.  He has the same two names, but his own

He get this one, you get the next

He get one name, you get the other name

The compromise is up to you

personally i dont like it either suggest using his first name as a middle name and what you want for a first name. also my brother is the third and he hates it because he never know who is being talked to him my dad or grandpa. just explain to him your reasoning!

I think you should honor the father by naming your son after him. Then give him a great middle name like the excellent ones you have chosen, and call him by that middle name. He'll have his dad's name, but go by the one you like. Everyone's happy =]

If you name your son Ahmed IV I don't think you have to worry about him not having his own identity. Your boyfriend has a strong family tradition of passing on his name. This is something that is rare these days. I would bet that he won't know anyone else who has a 4th generation name. I think that's pretty unique in its self.

I'm with you! I hate naming kids after yourself. That's why I'm so glad we had a little girl because my boyfriend wanted to name the baby after himself if it was a boy.

I love the names Dante and Giovanni. Personally, I would probably go with Dante.

I think it would be very confusing if your son is the fourth with the same name. I say pick a name you like and use your boyfriends name as a middle. I would choose Dante out of the 3 names.
