So my boyfriend is in the military and he is going to be stationed overseas (in Guam). We are not married, though we plan to do so. Does anyone know if I would be able to live with him overseas or would I have to stay here stateside?

  1. You can live with him, but the military will not recognize the relationship. You will need a visa and he will not receive any BAQ to help pay rent. Also, he will need special permission to live off base.

You're better off staying here. Sorry.

  2. All military branches are basically the same.  They will not pay for you to live there with him.  You would be responsible for your own travel there, a temporary visa from Quam, and like already stated, your BF will not receive any pay for you being there.

To answer your question, Yes you can live with him but it will be at your own expense, granted his command gives permission to live off base.  He will not receive BAH (Basic Allowance for Housing).

If you have been together long enough, and your ready, getting married is the easiest way to live with him there.  Just remaining BF/GF and trying to live there may turn out to be VERY costly financially.  Good Luck.

  3. you have to stay with him until his COMMAND acknowledges that you are married, until they stamp it, its a no-go.

  4. you don't need visa to stay in guam coz it's part of us,but u have to pay for ur own expense...get marriedd first...
