Boyfriends weird sleeping habits?

Hi. when my bf and i go to bed we usually spoon so I am lying on my side and he is lying behind me with his arms around my waist. We sleep like this because he knows I am safe that way loll. Anyway, I want to try it the other way round so I am behind him with my arms around his waist and me breathing on his neck like he does to me. But he says if we slept that way he wouldn't feel I was safe :/

Is it weird that that he doesn't want us to sleep like that because he wouldn't know i was safe? and should I just carry on sleeping as we are or try it the other way round? Do anyone Else's partners do things like this? Why does he so want to be holding on to me when we sleep?

I know this seems like a stupid question but not much is going on at the moment to ask about :P

  1. Lol, funny you ask this.

I used to feel uncomfortable when my girl slept behind me like that.  Eventually I got used to it, and now I kind of enjoy it.

  2. Perhaps he feels more comfortable, the way when he's got his arms around you, and he tells you the being safe reason because he doesn't want to tell you the real reason. Or maybe it is becuase of what he says, he may feel safer with his arms being around you, but whatever reason, you could at least try he other way. :]

  3. I think it makes HIM feel safe. I see issues.

When he is asleep. Move the way you want.

  4. SOME guys (obviously not all and maybe not even your bf - only you might be able to tell) set themselves into a role that they have to play in life, say the breadwinner of the family or the protector or the strong one. They recognise themself through that role and cant feel comfortable outside of it. If he feels he needs to protect you, that in his eyes is his role in this relationship, then sleeping with his arms around you reassures him that you are safe and that he is protecting you. If you swap it around he may feel like you are taking his place rendering him useless in the relationship.

  5. Being married to a woman that likes her 'space' in the bed, and hates to be cuddled, I envy you guys.  Just enjoy it.

  6. He might be afraid of losing you. Not when you sleep. This could be a complicated psychological problem. Or maybe he just isn't comfortable that way. Ask him to try something new once, and if he doesn't like it, try something different.
