Boys at Tosconova and Duke of Mischief to headline the Harlan’s Holiday at Gulfstream Park
The feature race at Gulfstream Park on 17 December, 2011, is the Harlan’s Holiday and the race has reeled in an excellent field of eight horses as their mettle will be tested at a mile and a sixteenth.
The most accomplished in the field of eight are two brilliant runners, Boys at Tosconova and Duke of Mischief. The latter is the son of Graeme Hall, out of mare My Lady Amelia by Real Courage, the 5-year-old Duke of Mischief is a multiple Grade 2 and Grade
3 winner.
However, the David Fawkes trained horse is exiting a disappointing 10th place finish in the Grade 1 Whitney Handicap at Saratoga on 6 August, 2011, at about 1 1/8 miles to winner Tizway, second place finisher Fat Out and third placed Giant Oak
as Tizway covered the distance in 1 minute and 52.43 seconds on dirt.
Owned by Cynthia Fawkes, David Fawkes and Alex Lieblong, Duke of Mischief 5 starts in the year 2011 managed a single win, and that win came in the Grade 3 Charles Town Classic at about 1 1/8 miles at Charles Town on 16 April, 2011.
Ridden by jockey J Bravo, Duke of Mischief stalked the leaders to finally outhustle them in the deep stretch to defeat Game on Dude and Tizway, who finished second and third, respectively, and take the race in 1 minute and 51.13 seconds.
On the other hand, the Richard Dutrow Jr. trained Boys at Tosconova is exiting a victory in an allowance claimer at Aqueduct race track on 11 November, 2011.
Under jockey Ramon Dominguez, Boys at Tosconova, took care of Hillswick in the stretch to win the six and a half furlong dash in 1 minute and 17.46 seconds.
The Kentucky bred 3-year-old son of Officer, out of mare Little Bonnet by Coronado’s Quest, Boys at Tosconova has been lightly raced in the year 2011, as his previous race prior to the Aqueduct allowance claimer was another allowance claimer at about 7 furlongs
at Belmont Park where he finished third.
As a juvenile, Boys at Tosconova finished second in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile to winner Uncle Mo. In the Harlan’s Holiday Duke of Mischief and Boys at Tosconova will headline the stakes race.
