Boys at Tosconova back to winning ways after his long absence from the races
The son of Officer is back, making his second start after an eleven month layoff, Boys at Tosconova, who had a pretty good 2010 is making up for lost time this season after landing his first race of the year at Aqueduct race course in an allowance claimer
for trainer Richard Dutrow.
On 11, November, 2011, Boys at Tosconova under jockey Ramon Dominguez romped past five other 3-year-old and above males to land the six and a half furlong dash with a winning time of 1 minute and 17.46 seconds, while Hillswick and Starforaday finished second
and third, respectively.
His other race of the 2011 season was on 8 October, at Belmont Park in another allowance claimer going the distance of seven furlongs where Boys at Tosconova finished third to winner Tapizar and runner up Uptowncharlybrown, as the winner covered the seven
furlong distance in 1 minute and 21.20 seconds.
Jay Em Ess Stable owned Kentucky bred out of the mare Little Bonnet by Coronado’s Quest, Boys at Tosconova in 2010 kicked things off with a win in the Grade 1 Hopeful Stakes at Saratoga after breaking his maiden at Belmont Park 2 months earlier.
In the Hopeful Stakes, Boys at Tosconova under jockey Ramon Dominguez topped the seven furlong distance in 1 minute and 23.27 seconds, while Stay Thirsty and Wine Police finished second and third, respectively.
His next big effort of the 2010 season came in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile over at 1 1/16 miles under his regular ride Ramon Dominguez.
Boys at Tosconova finished the race on a powerful note when he couldn’t just go past the 2-year-old 2010 champion Uncle Mo, and finished as a runner up.
Richard Dutrow on Boys at Tosconova’s winning effort in the 11 November, 2011, allowance claimer said "I was very pleased with his race today. If he's what he was last year he is supposed to show up today against these and he did. It didn't look like a real
grueling race for him. Maybe he was fighting the track a little bit. I think he likes to run much faster times. This was kind of a slowish time for him, but that's OK, we got the job done. He got back in the winner's circle and now we get to point him for
his next race. As long as he comes out the way he went in, we will be OK.
