Boys back in 60's/70's swam nekid during gym?

Question

My dad told me that when he was in high school in the late 60's early 70's that when they swam for gym class they all swam naked. The boys and girls classes were separate but he had a female gym teacher. I have tried to find mention of his online and have found some other simular accounts but have not hear it from anyone who was in the same situation. So I dont doubt his story but wonder how common it was.

Anyone grow up in that era and can back this up?

My mother was on a swim team in an all girls high school. Never heard any stories about that. i actually have her compation swim trunks<they were 2 peices> She never mentioned anything about practice naked. she graduated in 72. I think it's a croc, or really fishy

yes, i went to a jesuit all boy high school and no trunks allowed in pool. for gym class. a few guys on the swimming team wore them during practice. 1964-1968

never heard of any inappropriate behavior

Not where I went to high school!  Swimming was done in our regular gym shorts or in swim suits.

My dad said that in his highschool that they swam naked but they had a guy gym teacher who would always tell them to wash there crotch. Later they found out that he was g*y.

Girls wore suits...boys...nothing. 1930s. This was public school.
