Question:

Boys shaving?

At what age do boys usually start shaving their face/mustache? I'm just curious because I have 4 boys and my oldest are 13 yr old twins (turning 14 Oct. 1st). One of them is really starting to get a mustache. Well they both are but one is definitely more than the other. It's thin black hair but it's enough that it's visible like a shadow on his lip. He hasn't asked to shave yet but I have a feeling it won't be long until he does ask about it. I was just wondering when most boys start shaving.

  1. 14 or 15

  2. I started two years ago at the age of 17 by machine in the barbor shop

  3. I started shaving around 13, it was either that or walk around looking like a peach. If there is a man in the house have him show them how to shave, and get them their own razor.

  4. It's part of grooming...if it's starting to show at 13, maybe it's time to shave...really depends on you, remember you're the mother...if it's unsightly, let them know and teach them how to do it properly.  Hope this helps you.

  5. I guess it depends on how much hair the boy has. Some kids are hairy while others never have anything. God bless u , 4 boys!

  6. around 13 I started shaving maybe once a week . Im now almost 15 and shave like once every 3 days . It's normal kids are getting more mature earlier these days .

  7. do you dread that day when he ask's you? there is no problem in a young man starting to shave, in  fact, you should be happy he is growing up and becoming a teen.

  8. Well I was probably 13 or 14. I had peach fuzz that became very thick and it looked silly so finally I shaved it!

  9. Around 14 years of age.

  10. I agree with first answer.  I started shaving around 13 or 14 also.  Same thing, peach fuzz started getting noticeable. But, I was embarrassed by my brother making fun of me, but didn't want to shave for some reason. Can't really explain it. But then at some point I decided I wanted to start.  So, I think it's important not to force them to start shaving just because their mustache is noticeable. But as soon as they want to, go ahead.   It may be a good Idea just to ask them about it.

  11. If they start shaving it at that age it will only start to grow back thicker than before. Wait till it ges really thick or they ask to shave it before you decide to shave it.

  12. Well it kind of depends on how they feel/look. I was ecstatic about my mustache and the last thing i wanted was to shave it. It made me feel like a man and also i thought it made me look older.

The reason I say and how they look is because at 15 my bread came in and it was not  uniform and it was very straggly .  I felt the same way about it as i did my mustache but my mom and dad felt differently. In retrospect I was a hot mess.  They  gently nudged and encouraged me to shave my beard until i got more hair but i could keep the mustache.

So i started at 15 but most boys i knew did not until 17 or so most  in my school anyway did not have the kind facial hair i did at a young age

I am 28 and have only shaved my mustache three times since it came in

  13. As soon as it becomes visible, no matter what age. Some start early, some relatively late. But once they start, there is no stopping it.
