Bozun Yang captures Men’s 100m breaststroke gold – 2012 Paralympic Games
Bozun Yang of China captured gold medal of the Men’s 100m breaststroke in SB11 category on day five of the swimming events at the 2012 London Paralympic Games in Aquatics Centre on Monday, September 3.
Yang stunned the arena with his scintillating form in the breaststroke discipline, where he shattered hopes of his opponents and hit the wall for the title.
With his relentless efforts throughout the discipline, Yang succeeded in improving the world record of the event as he grabbed gold medal of the race in a time of 1 minute and 10.11 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Keiichi Kimura of Japan, who remained nearly four seconds apart and captured silver medal of the race by reporting a time of 1 minute and 14.00 seconds.
Kimura was trailed by Oleksandr Mashchenko of Ukraine, who stayed only 0.43 seconds slower and tapped the wall for bronze medal by producing an effort of 1 minute and 14.43 seconds.
The Ukrainian swimmer was chased by his teammate, Viktor Smyrnov, who was 0.32 seconds behind and concluded his race in fourth best place by reporting a time of 1 minute and 14.75 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the event was secured by Israel Oliver of Spain, who stayed nearly two seconds behind and transpired on the finishing wall with an effort of 1 minute and 16.46 seconds.
Oliver was trailed by Bradley Snyder of USA, who stayed 3.02 seconds slower from overpowering his former finisher and tapped the wall for sixth position with an effort of 1 minute and 19.48 seconds.
The American swimmer was chased by Panom Lagsanaprim of Thailand, who remained one body length behind and finished seventh in the race by clocking a time of 1 minute and 20.25 seconds.
Eighth position of the race was obtained by Yunerki Ortega of Cuba, who was unable to give tough time to any of his fellow swimmer and tapped the wall with a timing of 1 minute and 22.26 seconds.
Yang was happy with his performance in the 100m discipline and said that he would try to defend his title in future.
