Question:

Bra size seems too large?

I was shopping today and wandered into the maidenform store and figured I would get fitted, just to see what their exact size is since bras run differently depending on brand. The lady measured me and said i was a 36dd. I usually wear a 36c...so i tried on a few and they seemed big but seemed to fit. My b*****s do not appear the size i think of a dd being. Am i just over reacting?

  1. you got huge b***s

  2. You are over reacting. Most women wear the wrong size bra. It's good you got fitted as in the long run wearing the wrong size can cause back problems.

  3. lol... I know what you mean. I walked into a specialty shop one time to get fitted and the lady told me I wear a 36F!!! WHAT? I usually wear a 34DD! I was really upset too. The truth is, most of us ladies wear the wrong size bra. Some of us wear them tighter to minimize our breast and some larger for more comfort, what ever the reason just remember bras are not standard. You might wear one size in a Bali and another size in a Maiden Form. My advice? find a brand you like in a size that doesn't freak you out and stick to it. Good luck to you and don't sweat it.

  4. b*****s come in all different shapes, so the traditional measuring scale can be a bit off sometimes. Add to that the way different manufacturers cut the bras, and different style bras.

The best way to tell is in the actual fit of the bra.

Bravissimo has a great guide on how to get a good fit: http://www.bravissimo.com/perfectfit/get...

  5. Actually, you're a prime example of a woman wearing the wrong size. Bravissimo - the Gods of bigger bras, and the website provided by the person who gave the first answer - have worked out that the average isn't a C cup - it's closer to DD/E. Many think that DD/E is huge and so they can't possibly be this size. But actually, as you've found out, it's very average!

I used to wear a 32C. I then got measured as a 32DD, and couldn't believe that I was a DD. I then got measured again as a 28F! Again, I couldn't believe it. But thanks to a forum and many bra websites, I've learnt that 28F is actually quite small. You're not over reacting :)
