Bra straps that show?

Question

My step-daughter often wears tank tops or tops with spaghetti straps that clearly don't cover the straps of her bra. Furthermore, the color of the bra is never the color of the shirt. Yesterday it was a black bra with red shirt, before that, blue bra with yellow shirt, but most of the time it's a black bra with a white shirt (which would be clear even without straps). I always thought that exposed bra straps were a fashion no no and a strapless bra was the proper choice. Also, a black bra under a white shirt was never acceptable. She's not the only one I've seen do this, but my husband and I have always viewed the others we've seen as looking "trashy". Is this a new trend or should I say something?

I think it shows individual style. i think this is fine, as long as she doesnt start wearing belly shirts. I think you should let yoru daughter explore different styles. If you try to make her stop she will only rebel. Its normal that way. I think this style is acually kinda hip. My daughter does the same thing, none matching bra straps. Alot of times she will also wear two bras to show two straps. Just let your child be able to stand out =)

i find it trashy most of the time but i think every girl does it at some point. i try to make it at lest close when i really don't want to wear a short sleeved shirt over a tank top. strapless bras can be really annoying. your step daughter is probably just fallowing a trend if she wears it most of the time. it depends on your relationship with her, if you are really close you can probably say something about matching her tank tops and bras or buying a strapless (don't say it's trashy) but if you have a little more of a rocky relationship, maybe you should just let her wear them

It's not a trend. Unless being trampy is trendy, which it's not.. Tell her to not wear tanks that expose her bra straps anymore because it looks like she's going to a stripper's club, okay don't say it like that. But you can say something like, "match your bra with your shirt next time" or "don't wear those spaghetti strap tanks anymore, they aren't cute, they're trashy" You may only be her step-mother, but you still have some authority.

Uh...I don't think showing straps is trashy. Everyone knows she's wearing a bra anyway. If she's purposefully showing off her bra...like, if you can see through, tell her to wear either black, white, or nude bras, and to make sure you can't see it. The strap part is fine, though. I see no problem with it.

i'm in highschool, a sophomore, and personally i think alot of the time it looks trashy too but more and more girls are doing it and guys having long hair and dressing in skater/punk clothes.....personally i dont like the way all the new styles are going and im sticking with my short hair and preppy clothes......i think its something alot of girls are doing now unfortunetly

to some people it can appear as trashy. its not a new trend as far as i know. maybe she just doesnt have any strapless bras to wear with her tops.. if she doesnt, try buying her or encouraging her to buy some strapless bras, some with clear straps, and nude colored ones! hope i helped.
