Why does a shorter brace height on a compound bow make it harder to shoot and make it faster?

  1. As a recurve shooter, here's what I know about brace height.  When the brace height is low, your power stroke increases, that means the arrow is put under acceleration from the string for a longer time, this explains why the arrow goes out the bow faster.

The faster the arrow goes, the weaker it will behave.  Weak arrows are hard to shoot.  They tend to spread out, very unforgiving.  Weak arrows also run the risk of having clearance issues.

Now I was under the impression that you can't change the brace height on compounds.  Are these arrows meant to be shot from that bow? With recurves, the brace height is the first thing you set when you're tuning.  Everything else depends on it.  If you change your brace height, you will have to retune the arrows.
