I've started the process of gettin braces already and right now I have my spacers in and they hurt really bad. and the thing is I cant eat none of my favorite foods. I can only eat things that require little to no chewing. What I want to know is will the braces hurt as much as the spacers do?and what are the steps they take when they're putting the braces on? and are there any tips I can take to prevent pain????

  1. it all depends on how bad your teeth are in the first place.

if you're teeth are really bad, it may hurt more than someone with not so crooked teeth.

no matter how straight your teeth are, your mouth will be sore and it will take some time to get used to.

they put the glue on each tooth, then the little bracket thing, and finally the wire. when they push the wire it, you may feel a little discomfort, but it doesnt hurt that bad.

the finishing product is going to be worth it.

    ADVICE!!

When you get your braces off, make sure you wear your retainer as directed. If you don't it will be hard to get back on track. Your teeth won't be crooked or anything, but it won't be the perfect straight that you had when you took them off.

  2. aaaa i get braces in like 3 weeks. hope it's not too painful. lol

    good luck!

    ♥aubry

p.s. [i've heard ib-profin and advil is ur best friend like the first couple weeks]

  3. me too i got my spacers on today.. those little round white things lol my teeth r really crowded so theyre really tight. it sucks and i know exactly how u feel lol

  4. it will hurt at first

  5. the reason the spacers hurt so much is your teeth are not used to moving, they will hurt for a little bit but actually the more you chew (even though it hurts) the better your teeth will feel because the teeth will move to the spot they need to be.  as for the braces part, putting them on doesn't hurt at all, but after your appiontment i would take aspirin right away because after about an hour they start to hurt.  it will hurt only for like a couple of days (maybe a little longer the first time because that's when your teeth move the most) but after that it doens't hurt at all...just takes a little time to get used to all the metal in your mouth haha.  everytime you get them tightened (like every month) they might hurt for a day while they adjust...but again the more you chew the quicker the pain will go away!!  i wore braces for three years...its totally worth it in the end!! good luck!! :)

  6. I just got my braces put on two weeks ago. First they glue the brackets on, then put in the wires, then put on the rubberbands (Warning; when putting on the rubberbands it feels like someones tugging really hard on your teeth, so be prepared for that). A few hours afterwards, your teeth will start to feel sore and you won't be able to eat alot of food for a few days =(. You eventually get used to them, though.

  7. The spacers hurt and then when you get the braces they can be very uncomfortable initially, but then you get used to them in a short while.

  8. to make them feel better after you get them tightened drink ice water.

it will hurt 4 about 4 days but it fades away.

they always say don't eat this and that but after awhile you start to eat it anyway.

but don't eat it at first wait a few weeks.

yea my spacers used to hurt to don't worry

  9. it hurts when you get them tightened

but i am using invisalign instead (much easier)

  10. braces will hurt on everyone at first. like the first week or 2 will be painful but after that you can go back to eating all of your favorite foods :)

the only other times it will hurt is when you go to get them tightened and when they get taken off.

but other than that you shouldnt worry because it will go away.

  11. i had braces for a couple monthes now the when you go for tightning i didn't feel it when i got them on it was sore for a week put now they don't hurt i love them now and the pain just take pain killers after your done with them that helped me :)

  12. Yes, AT FIRST it hurts, but after a while you get used to them and forget not having braces.

When they go to put your braces on, they first thing they put on are these little metal squares on each tooth using a special kind of glue that tastes really bad. Then they put brackets, a thin metal wire, on connecting the squares from tooth to tooth and "tie" it, or glue it, to a metal "spacer" type thing on your back mohlers.

I took some Tylenol before going to get mine and tried to take one for the the next day or two or whenever it hurts. Just don't take too much.

It sounds really dangerous, but really it's nothing, don't worry!
