  1. well i have had my braces on for a year, and when i got my braces on at first they told me not to chew gum but i chewed sugar free gum which may hurt but it helps the soreness. yes you will talk funny your mouth is just not used to your braces being there and it will take about a week for them to adjust! in the next couple of days you can eat soups, pb&j, and other soft foods but by friday you should be able to start eating hard foods again. i brush my teeth twice a day, in the morning and at night, either way if you feel you need to brush after each meal then you can but just as long as your brushing twice a day!

        GOOD LUCK!

  2. 1. Try taking tylenol or a Motrin, that will help some. It will go away in about 5-7 days.

    2. No, once your mouth gets used to it you will talk the same.

    3. Soft foods like yogurt, smoothies, oatmeal, ect.

    4. No, not after every meal, but try to brush twice a day, and always floss every tooth at least once a day.

  3. Here are some tips, on braces!

    1) I know sometimes they kill! Just take to Advil or pain relievers. Also buy some Orajel or numbing gel to numb the pain caused by braces.

    2) Usually your mouth gets used to braces so you stop talking, in rare cases it doesn't change. Ask your orthodontist next appointment.

    3) Smoothies, soup, apple sauce, frozen yougurt, and ice cream. Soft foods are the key!

    4) Not everything. If you have a mid morning treat or ice cream go ahead and skip but if you eat something really full of sugar brush. Try to brush 3 times a day. After every meal or sugar filled food.

Hope this helps. Good luck! =)

  4. 1. ibproufen.[oh and before your next visit take some right before you get them tightened so it wont hurt as much]

    2. no, you just have to get used to having them in your mouth. you will talk normally soon.

    3. yogurt, chicken noodle soup; just soft foods.

stay away from chips and other hard things, it just hurts like h**l!

    4. not after everything, but it is easier to get food stuck in them, so i would reccomend it.
