Braces and Bleeding Gums?

by  |  earlier

I just got braces about two months ago, last week i had them tightened and had no pain at all. But after a few days I noticed at the roof of my mouth my gums started to swell. Now throughout the day my gums will bleed. And this isnt little bleeding, I spit out mouthfuls of blood, it doesnt hurt at all though. And I brush my teeth about 7 times a day. What is happening? Please help!

  1. it is completely normal just call the ortho if you are really worried it is because the wires are tighter and you mouth is just reacting

  2. It most likly has nothing to do with braces.. you should only brush your teeth after you eat and not hard because you actually dammage the gums.. i use to be ocd about my teeth and brushed every chance i got.. which caused my gums to swell and bleed. and my dentist gave me a soft bristel tooth brush and a special tooth paster for sensitve gums it help alot..and also now i try to stick to only 3-4 times a day
