Braces and teeth taken out?

Question

I am going to get braces on the top and bottom because i have got and open bite. I have got an open bite because when i was little i used to suck my thumb a lot. I'm also getting 2 or 4 teeth taken out. I would like to know what type of braces I'm going to get if they will hurt when the dentist is putting them on and if it will hurt when i get my teeth taken out. I would also like to know if i have to were retainers after.

aahah you have the right person answering this,

in the process of getting my braces i got 17 teeth taken out, not all in one like i got 8 once and 9 once, and if your getting put to sleep, you will NOT feel it until you wake up, and if you are just getting frozen, you just wont feel it, it just might feel weird and numb

and  it will not hurt when they are putting the braces on, but i hate to tell you that they will hurt after for like 1 or 2 days, just eat some soft food.

for me. i didn't think that getting the braces on hurt. it didn't. but when you get them tightened, it hurts. when you first get them on, they put a type of glue on your teeth to keep your braces on. make sure you dont put your teeth on it because it tastes horrible. and yes you get a retainer when your done because other wise, your teeth will go back to its original place before you had braces.

This was my experience:

I got the regular metal braces and no teeth taken out. Before they put on your braces they will check for any cavities and do a deep cleaning.  They numb your mouth so you wont feel it as much... I'm very sensitive to pain so they had to give me couple of injections to numb my whole mouth.  When they put in your braces it doest hurt as much but the pain begins the next day.  It hurts terrible... you can't eat and it feel weird. After couple of weeks you will get used to it.  The only timed it really hurt was the first month when they were putting on the braces.. I cried actually.  My teeth literally got fixed within 3 months.  I have an overbite so I have to keep them for two years :(  In january of next year!!! Yuppy for me.

Everyone has to wear retainers for at least two years I think.. If you dont your teeth will sit back to their old place and all that hard work will go to waste.

You will be very happy with the results!! The sooner you do them the better.

hi there i have had braces on twice. i'm wearing mine for the second time. you will most likely get train tracks as these will help align the bite and move the teeth into a better position. and yes you will again  have to have retainers after your orthodontic treatment as these will stop the teeth from moving and everyone has had them. i would also have to agree with another person on here to talk to your Orthodontist because whilst we can help you we may not be able to answer every single question. and as you are seeing the Orthodontist every 6-8 weeks it would be better to ask them about any other queries or concerns you may have because they will have more experience and know what you're talking about.

they will take out the teeth before putting your braces on of course. Having teeth taken out really doesn't hurt. You'll just feel alot of pressure. No big deal. Braces don't really hurt getting them on, but you will be sore for a while. Yes, you will have to wear a retainer after you get the braces off. And you must wear them even if at first you'll talk a little funny. You will adjust. I was a dumba** for not wearing my retainers after 2 years of having braces and other c**p. Now, my 4 front teeth are crooked again. Not as bad as they were before braces, but you can definitely tell. Also after you get your teeth taken out, take the pain killers BEFORE the numbness wears off. I'm telling ya, you do not want to feel the pain.

usually if you have teeth taken out and braces put on it doesnt really hurt becuase the braces hurt too.and you probably do have to wear a retainer because all my friends that have had braces have to wear a retainer no matter what
