  1. Take a painkiller before you go...like advil or something. it eases the pain for right when you get them on.

Eat a lot of soft foods, like jello and stuff like that. you won't be able to eat anything hard for a while...

  2. Well first eat alot then take an advil before, but it will still hurt. sorry

You eat alot cuz you wont be able to eat after...

  3. I have braces and to tell the truth it doesnt really hurt. when you get there after they are put on ask for some wax. its what you put on the brackets or wires that are rubbing against ur cheek or lips. if your teeth are sore take a tylenol or pain reliever. they won't be sore for long after a while u just get used to it. (when u get 'em tightened. if they hurt, a tylenol is helpful. ) I wouldn't chew laffy-taffy or licorice until you get used to them. they are ok as long as you don't chew them on the side of ur mouth. it'll be fine. and really it doesn't hurt. hope i helped

  4. Braces only hurt for the first couple of days. Its gonna really pull on your teeth since your getting them for the first time. When I got mine the dentist gave me some pain reliever and also a prescribed some pills cause it was gonna hurt worse since he pulled some teeth. Just think that theres other people that are going through more pain than you, it will get you through.

  5. You might want to invest in the small wax drops that you put over the braces in your mouth.  They can make your cheeks feel pretty sore when you first get them on, and the wax can be a soft buffer... And Ibuprofin! Good luck!

  6. no it doesnt hurt that much. i just got mine off and it was fine too. the only part that hurt was when he put the rings on my molers that hurt a little. the rest doesnt hurt because they glue it on. bring one of those stress balls there and squeeze it if it hurts it worked for me. yea so it doesnt hurt when u get it on that much only a tiny tiny bit but the next few days your mouth will be really sour and u cant chew or anything. i just ate soup and ice cream .

    good luck!

    dont be afraid!

  7. take tylenol like 30 min. before your appointment, and you'll be fine. I mean they're a little sore the first week and after each appointment, but people blow the pain a little over proportion. It's just sore, not painful.

  9. Well,

when I first got them, somewhere around 5th grade, the first night-ish hurts, because its like pulling your teeth together, but for me, it took me,like 2 days till the pain was gone..

and I have the tighting on the bottom, about a few months, and my trick for it not hurting, is to bite down, not hard, but bite down so it wont hurt..

    uhmm

I'm going to 8th grade, so I've had braces for 2 or 3 years..

  10. not really take advil before you get them tightened but it doesn't hurt too bad to get them on.

  15. Trust me, honey (or don't), but i know from experience that the pain isn't what it's all hyped up to be. idk, when i first went in to getting braces, i thought for sure that i was going to be in extreme pain. The pain is not really a pain at all, more of a soreness of your mouth. They will probably give you something to knaw on, which helped me, and keep some painkiller around. The pain doesn't go on for very long. There's not really much of a way to prepare for it. Just enjoy eating hard things and chewing gum and that sort. The real pain is the way it makes you look. :) Hope this helps.

floss, and brush your gums, and just good hygeine

  17. After you get them on, and every time they get tightened, get a shake to eat afterwards.  It helps the pain a lot!

  18. well first of all its not as bad as you think. it will hurt for a couple days or so but after that it gonna be fine. d

  19. Actually getting braces isn't that painful. I'm not so sure why everyone says it is. After you first get them on it's a little hard to chew. But that goes away within a day or two. Good luck!

  20. Take  ibuprofen like an hour before and the pain that is like an hour after doesn't hurt as much!
