Braces before Boot camp

Question

I am considering joining the Air force and I just recently got braces. I am not sure if you are allowed to have braces on in boot camp or not.

Unforunitly no. As long as you have braces you cannot go to Basic Training. You can however still go through the enlistment process with your local recruiter. Your recruiter will want a letter of "A Projected time frame of when the braces will come off" which is VERY hard to predict. My fiance has had hers over 2 years. By the time they come off she will have had them 2 months shy of 3 years. It all depends.

you have to join the dep program first which is through a recruiterthe dep program is the initial enlistment and physical along with a monthy meeting and untill your braces are removed you will remain in the dep program because braces are a potential danger for you and your team mates in basic training
