Question:

Braces elastics h**l. Please help!?

I just got elastics on my braces today. I have had braces for 2 years and have coped with spacers, getting the braces, adjustments and horrific surgery on my mouth that never healed properly but I'm not coping with the elastics. How can anyone live like this? How long till it gets better (if it does get better at all)? How long do you have them for?

  1. The good news is,   if you are to the elastic stage,  you are nearing the end of your treatment.   The bad news is,  this is where a lot of people slack off,  adding lots of time to their treatment.

Try to wear the rubber bands as close to 24/7 as you can.   The reason they are so sore is because they are working FAST !   Not a fun feeling,  but a GOOD sign.    You want them to do their job fast,  because when they are done,  you usually get your naked teeth back.

Also,  if you wear them all the time,  they stop being sore in a couple days.   If you wear them for less time each day,  they will be sore longer,  so try to tough it out.   Don't be afraid to use your favorite pain medication,  like Tylenol or Advil for a day or two.

Your nearing the end.........try not to stop now !!
