Question:

Braces or No?

Reasons why I'm hesitant:

1. If I end up missing what my teeth looked like before OR that my lips will take on a different position/shape because my teeth were repositioned

2. I end up developing a drooling problem or something like my aunt did

3. may have to get braces TWICE? or even longer than two years

4. scared braces will bring down my self esteem while I have them because I love smiling so much & think they are one of my favorite assets

5. people usually view braces to be icky?

6. I have teeth crowding and a small jaw. Some people after getting braces taken off, their teeth jut outwards. EEK I assume thats because they have teeth crowding!

My teeth on the bottom jut inward, and the ones on top jut outward but not enough that you can determine that they are. It evens out. My teeth don't attract too much attention.

Should I stay natural with my natural teeth and learn to accept the positioning of my teeth?

Or, get braces?

  1. Braces. Trust me, you'll be so glad you did in the long run. And I would know, I was the worst kind of case. I was born without seven of my permanent teeth; had an overbite mixed with a cross-bite and various other things. I started with my braces in the fourth grade, I am now a senior in high school. I'm not joking. So half my life I've either been in some sort of braces, or had a retainer, or been waiting on some sort of orthodontics based treatment. I have one more month to go. And I'll have better teeth than anyone I know.

But no, most of the things you listed are myths and you will still have a great smile. The brackets they use for braces now are friggin' tiny, you can hardly see them. Braces are not icky, and your teeth won't "jut" outwards (whatever the f*ck that means)

good luck on whatever you choose.

  2. no offence but those pictures were showing more of "you" then your actual teeth.. from what ive seen though your teeth dont even look like they could use braces.. maybe retainers to keep them from moving.. i dunno.. you need to talk to your ortho about this.. but i have to tell you though that your teeth do get worse with age due to it shifting and such. Do you have all of your molars yet?? cause if you dont then i think you should get braces, molars would only make your crowded teeth more noticable..

  3. You should get braces because if you dont your teeth could get worse. and you wont have to get braces twice if you wear your retainer.

  4. your teeth arent that bad but you should get them i mean your young and you will want to have pretty straight teeth when you get them off ! And the only thing braces change is your teeth just make sure you take good care of your teeth while you have your braces

  5. Yes get braces...a lot of guys (like me) find crooked teeth to be a huge turnoff

  6. don't worry u will be fine. and i think braces r actually

cool.i don't think braces r  icky (he he). seriously.

just think of it as bling bling (lol). i need braces and

i want some so bad cuz i wanna have perfect teeth.

in the end u will be so happy cuz ur teeth will be

straight. but one thing i am going to tell u is when

    u get braces(if u do)ur teeth will hurt for like 2 weeks.

trust me i no a lot of people that have braces. braces

cost up to 3,400. has ur dentist told u bout Invislign???

cuz if he hasn't well this is wat it is.

    http://www.unforgettablesmile.com/invisa...

it' cost bout 4,800. just 2 let u no cuz that''s wat my

dentist told me.it's cool cuz it's just like white

strips but better and won't hurt at all

pick me pick me!!! ha ha

    hope i helped. :)

  7. if i were you, i would get braces :) i just got my braces off today after nearly three years & i LOOOOOVE my new smile <3 it truly is worth it.

if you are really concerned about your teeth jutting out afterwards you should ask an orthodontist what he would suggest :) good luck

  8. trust me none of that stuf happens i had braces for 3 years and i am so happy with the end result, it was totally worth it!

i think you should, unless u have like senior prom or something big like that

  9. Your teeth don't really need braces they're quite fine, but putting on braces would be a good idea if you're not satisfied. I have braces, and I'm 100% sure braces are worth it..

Despite the pressure and slight pain, the results are amazing..

  10. For your teeth you probably won't have them longer than 2 years. And the only reason why people get braces twice is because they do like 6 month or little longer braces then retainer and then another 6 months or little longer braces then a retainer again.

  11. i think sears has invisaline. they are clear braces you slip in at night. and take out in the morning. i had braces for 2 years, and my teeth are perfect, another suggestion, a retainer. they can be glued in! oh & and get some clothes on!!!!

  12. I have braces and thy are working really good. If others think that braces are icky, just get clear braces. I have them and they aren't that noticeable.

  13. I would suggest braces, because your teeth are kind of crooked. The orthodontist will probably put in spacers (rubber bands between your teeth) first to fix your overcrowding issue. Then he will try to calculate how long you need them (probably a year) and if he needs to fix any bite problems, etc... it's a pretty easy process (for you, I mean lol). You should get them now to get it over and done with. I see people in their 60s getting braces (cos they couldn't afford it before) and it takes a lot longer because their teeth are pretty much set and take a long time to move.

If it's the self-esteem thing that's making you hesitate, don't be afraid. More than three quarters of the population (or maybe half) has had braces on sometime or another. If someone makes fun of you for it, just remember that at least you're doing something about your teeth. Getting braces is nothing more than a tool to make yourself feel better, if you want to put it that way. In a year or two, you'll have straighter teeth than those people.

I can't really say anything about the teeth jutting outward, but if you get a good orthodontist and tell him/her all your concerns, you should be in good hands. Good luck!

  14. Braces for sure...But they will make your lips move because when you smile your lips will have to get used to getting out of the way of the brackets...but I love my braces and they way they are working and I'm really glad I got them...You won't have them on for more than a year anyways...but I agree with the guy above me that the pictures show a little more of you than they need to
