  1. I had the same problem. When I got my braces, it took 3 days for my mouth to feel completely better. It is because your mouth is trying to reject the immense pressure being put on your teeth.

Try to stick to soft food and take Advil as needed. I ate cold foods, such as ice cream and smoothies to numb the teeth.

They will hurt when the tighten them. They don't even tighten them, they just put in a thicker wire.

  2. Advil is the best for dental pain or any anti inflamatory.

  3. It has been 25 years since I had mine but I still remember the pain.  Give it a few days and it will be fine.  Stick with soft foods and milkshakes.  The reason that it hurts is that it is working and your teeth are not used to them yet.  You will feel the same pain each time you go for a checkup.

Remember to floss between your brackets.

  4. That is normal.  The pain should go away in another day or two.  Just try to stick with soft foods for a few days.  It will probably also happen when you have your braces tightened too.

  5. Very normal. Mine hurt for almost a week after getting them on. There are numbing agents you can get at stores like CVS. Mine hurt when I tried to eat a banana! time will help, and advil will too. I hope you feel better! Take good care of those braces and you'll get them off in the least amount of time needed :)

  6. yeah thats normal stick to things like soup. i took motrin for the pain before thet put them on and before they tighten them

  7. Yeah it's normal and don't worry you'll get used to the pain soon enough. Keep taking advil though.
