Question:

Braces!!!!?

by  |  earlier

I'm getting braces soon, but I have crowding at the front upper jaw. I have really big front teeth, which made my two side teeth grow in crooked. Would they have to pull those two teeth (permanent teeth) out for braces? If it is pulled, would the other teeth have to grow around the two spaces? Would I have pains after the pulling? Also, do getting braces hurt in general?

-Thanks

  1. yes they will pull only one of your teeth but it wont be at the front i got it done and they pulled the 3rd one from the back it was slightfully painful but take pain killers that will ease the pain. ive had braces on for 7 months before he started moving the other teeth so i dont have a gap this can take 12-18 weeks he started moving the front teeth first. the braces can hurt generally after u get them tightened normally every 6 weeks this is done and only takes bout 15mins to do

but after a day or two they will be fine just make sure to use the wax they give you ......good luck

  2. Ok. I have answers.

    1. No, they would not have to pull them. I had bicuspids that were pointing out of my mouth like a dog. They didn't pull them. But, my friend had the same problem as you and they didn't pull them. They just might hurt to the touch for a little while after you get them on.

    and 2.

They only hurt for about the next week after you get them on and the same for when you get them tightened. After that, the pain fades.

    Hope this helps. :D

  3. as far as pulling your teeth out and such, your ortho/dentist is gonna know more about that than me.

but i can answer your braces part.

getting the braces ON your teeth does NOT hurt.

you're just laying there in the chair while they glue the brackets on, but the glue they use, tastes HORRIBLE!!!

your face is gonna squint in so many ways you didn't know you could do. it's just the taste that is horrible...there' no pain on getting them on.

the pain comes AFTER you have them on for the first 3 weeks, at least that's how long my pain lasted.

i could not chew anything , my teeth were in sooooo much pain, i didn't think my teeth would hurt so much.

i seriously felt my teeth were gonna fall out, they felt sooo loose, and your teeth WILL hurt because the braces are moving your teeth around, so imagine that.

  4. i dont know if ur teeth are going to be pulled or not but i do know that braces hurt after u first put them on. the pain continues for about 4 days and then u will be just fine.

  5. You will be fine. Just ask your dentist these questions, don't be shy.

And no braces don't hurt you will have some discomfort but that is part of the straighten process you will get use to them and remember to brush extra better or else you will have some white stains on your teeth where your braces were glued. And don't worry about the crowding if your teeth are in bad shape and you have teeth still trying to come out they might do some pulling but by the sounds of it your teeth are just crooked. Just go in with a positive attitude and things will come out just fine. (I wore braces for 2 years) I am proud of my results, listen to your dentist instrutions. Good Luck!!!
