Brackets from porcelain braces fell off and have not been replaced?

I have porcelain braces on the top and the traditional on the bottom. I've had them on for 2 months now and have lost 3 brackets on the top none of which the orthodontist has replaced.... he said I didn't really need them. I still have glue on my teeth from the missing brackets (which were in the back) and I am wondering if this is normal? I already asked my orthodontist if he needed to replace them and his reply was "don't you think if I needed to I would"? He is a family friend and is doing this as a favor and I feel like I am not getting proper treatment because of this.

I would trust him. Even if a friend he will not let your teeth go crooked.
