Brad Fritsch finally earns the PGA Tour card
Canadian Brad Fritsch has had some very troubled years. However, after a struggle of 12 years, the Holly Springs golfer has finally earned a full time PGA Tour card for the 2013 season.
Brad finished 18th on the Web.com Tour, which was enough to grant him his first full time PGA Tour card.
The top 25 on the Web.com money tour list received the tour card for the next season and after a long and hard struggle the Canadian has finally fulfilled his dream.
“There were some pretty lean years at first,” Fritsch said Monday. “It’s been a journey. But little by little each year I made improvement”.
Fritsch, who hails from Ontario, is a huge fan of Ottawa Senators. He will be wearing their logo on his shirts and golf bags.
This is something extremely unique that a golfer playing on the PGA Tour will be sponsored by an NHL team.
“I didn’t know how unique it was but everything kind of fell into place,” Fritsch said. “(It) seems like a good fit”.
As much as he loves NHL, golf has always been his preferred game. Brad first took hold of a club when he was only five years old.
It was his mother initially who persuaded him to pursue golf for a living. Brad attended Campbell on a scholarship but coming to America was a big step for him.
“Coming to North Carolina was a bit of a culture shock, in the Southern Bible Belt,” he said.
“Another shock was the amount of practice we had to do, 2 to 5 o’clock every afternoon. I didn’t have a great junior golf resume, and I figured out soon everyone is really good and I had to do that to play with them”.
By far, this has been the year for Fritsch when it comes to golf. He has played some golf this year with as many as seven top-ten finishes.
He has played some events on the PGA Tour but playing as a full time member will be a different ball game altogether for the Canadian.
Brad Fritsch is excited and looking forward to playing on the Tour. Let us see what he comes up with during the next year.
