Brad Fritsch ready for the RBC Canadian Open
Canadian Brad Fritsch is set to make a breakthrough at this year’s RBC Canadian Open at the Hamilton Golf & Country Club in Ancaster, slated to start from July 26, 2012.
In 2006, Fritsch made his first start in the event at the same venue as it is for this year’s edition. However, he does not remember anything about the points where he felt comfortable in playing different shots.
It was his career’s third PGA Tour event and he missed the cut after recording identical 74’s in the opening two rounds.
According to some people, he may use his experience at the venue while playing this week. Fritsch, on the other hand, thinks otherwise.
“Remembered most of the holes, but not to the point where I could say I’m more comfortable with this tee shot or that tee shot,” he said.
“I don’t have a very good memory about this event back in 2006. That may speak to how overwhelming and different that it was for me back then. It was my third PGA Tour event”.
In 2007, he once again missed the cut after carding 71 and 77, followed by a similar performance in 2008—he scored 71 and 76.
For the first time in his career, he managed to make the cut in the Canadian Open after he managed to record 71 and 70 last year.
However, a devastating performance in the final two rounds (80-74) dragged him down to the share of 71st position on the leaderboard. He then qualified for the Web.com Tour at the end of the 2011 golf season and currently plays on it.
He received a sponsor exemption to play this year in Hamilton, to which, he responded positively while skipping a Web.com Tour event, scheduled in the same week.
“I feel like there’s plenty of events out there where, if I play well, I should be able to get to my goal, which is the top 25,” he said. “If there’s one event that’s going to change my life, it’s this one”.
Fritsch has managed to record three top-10 finishes so far on the Web.com Tour this year. Therefore, he can keep the momentum going into the PGA Tour event too and improve his track record on the tour.
