Brad Haddin calls its quits from International Twenty20 cricket – Cricket News Update
Australian wicket-keeper batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BJ-Haddin-c1170, recently announced his retirement from International Twenty20 (T20) cricket, citing that his retreat from the limited overs format would allow the Aussie to focus more on Test cricket and One Day Internationals
(ODI).
“This decision has been made to prolong my effectiveness in these formats and provide me further time to prepare for the demands of ODI and Test cricket. I remain extremely determined to play cricket for Australia and believe this decision will help achieve
this,” said Haddin.
The 33-year-old’s departure from the shortest format of cricket adds him alongside skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RT-Ponting-c2377, as players to call-off the set-up, in favour of the longer formats.
Haddin premiered his T20 career for the Australian national team in 2006, in a one-off match against the visiting South African team.
Since his debut, the wicket-keeper batter played 25 International matches for Australia, securing a tally of 342 runs at an average of 18.00.
While for the other formats, Haddin has played 90 ODI matches, scoring 2466 runs at an average of 32.02, and 35 Tests, out of which the batsman has scored a total of 1995 runs, including his career’s top score of 169.
Upon his retirement, Haddin stated that he has had a terrific run playing all three formats for his national team, but would now like to groom his ODI and Test career.
“I thoroughly enjoy Twenty20 cricket and have taken great pride from playing all three forms of the game for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746. However I feel the time is now right for me to concentrate on Test and ODI cricket,” said Haddin.
However, Haddin might have called off his International T20 career, but the Aussie stated that he still remains committed to his role as the Captain of the Sydney Sixers, which are scheduled to participate in the upcoming Australian domestic event, the KFC
Big Bash League, scheduled to kick off in December this year, as well as for his cash-rich, Indian Premier League (IPL) team, the Kolkata Knight Riders, which are currently engaged in the Champions League Twenty20 tournament.
