Team Australia’s veteran wicketkeeper batsman, Brad Haddin, has expressed regret over his poor batting show in the 2nd innings of the 1st Test match against South Africa, claiming that it was not one of the ‘proudest moments’ of his
life.
The classy batsman scored just 5 runs in the two innings. However, BJ is not ready to tolerate any objection on his form and skills. He opines that such dismal things often happen in the game, and the players should not be lampooned for just one pathetic
innings.
Haddin is of the view that regardless of whatever a cricketer delivers, he must be fair with himself and with the team he plays for. The middle-order batsman strongly believes that Test cricket is an examination of a team’s character as a whole, and individual
performances cannot ensure success.
Talking to the media today, Haddin said, “It wasn't my proudest moment. There are moments in the game where you have to assess situations, and that's something I didn't do great the other day. But the bottom line is you have to be true to yourself and your
teammates and play the way that's got you here.”
He further told, “The thing about this game is the way you turn [back] up, not only individually but as a team. It shows what mental strength you have. It's a true test of character after being kicked in the guts individually and as a team. Now we have to
come out fighting and see what we are made of.”
Haddin hopes that the Aussies will turn better in the 2nd and final Test match, that is set to start from November 17.
BJ’s Test career is at the stake as the team captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RT-Ponting-c2377, Phillip
Hughes and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MG-Johnson-c1945 can be on the hit list.
Haddin made his International debut in 2001. He has played 36 Test, 93 ODI and 25 T20I matches so far, scoring 2000, 2511 and 342 runs in the three formats respectively.
