Brad Hodge says no to Australia – Cricket News Update

The 37-year-old is widely regarded as one of the unluckiest players in Australian cricket, despite a staggering record at the domestic front. He has plied his trade almost everywhere and has earned a reputation of a consistent performer.
However, his bout with the Australians has been few, mainly warming the benches due to the array of talent that stands before him. Since making his Test debut against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 in 2005, Hodge has featured in a total of 6 five-day games where he has averaged
a staggering 55.88.
However, his inclusion in the side has always been considered only if any of the first team player got injured. While his ODI record has not been impressive, where he has averaged 30.26 from 25 matches, he still has 3 fifties and one century to his tally.
 Now in the twilight of his career, the player admits that he has no desire of playing for the national team but admitted that he would have done well, provided given the confidence by the selectors.
"There's two 37-year-olds (http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RT-Ponting-c2377 and Mike Hussey, who is actually 36) doing pretty well now. If I was still there I'd be doing pretty well, I reckon," said Hodge. "But I don't want to play for Australia again, no way," he was quoted as saying by
'The Age'.
For now, the veteran batsman is playing in the inaugural KFC Big Bash League, where he scored an impressive unbeaten 72 for the Melbourne Renegades in their last match against the Sydney Sixers. He also had impressive stints in the Indian Premier League
with Kolkata Knight Riders and Kochi franchise.
Hodge now feels that he will be better off playing in the T20 competitions world over, while also sees himself, prolonging his association with Victoria in the Australian domestic setup.
"This is my life now. It's enjoyable, stress free. It's time for the youngsters to step up and do something," said the right-hander.
