Brad Keselowski finishes seventh despite leading for 79 laps at Quaker State 400 – NASCAR news
Penske Racing team driver of car no. 2 Dodge, Brad Keselowski dropped to seventh position at the Quaker State 400 Sprint Cup Series race at the Kentucky Speedway.
Even though Keselowski led for 79 laps in the race but he was victimised by a couple of bad restarts in the evening.
Keselowski said, “It was an incredible Miller Lite Dodge. I led a bunch of laps and I have to thank my team for that. Everyone at Penske Racing has a lot to be proud of. But I would have liked to have gotten a better finish from where we ended up.”
As the heat started at the Kentucky Speedway, the race was expected to be a battle between Kyle Busch, the recent CWTS event winner and Brad Keselowski, the Nationwide Series race winner. Both were seen as mastering at the circuit in respective race wins,
but unfortunately, Keselowski was losing pace and positions.
He further commented on his faulting restarts and said that getting in the bottom lane was not a good support. He said that it caused him to drop positions and further he was engaged in traffic. Such conditions forced him to slip in the bottom lane, he said.
Calling it as mere bad luck, every restart was getting even tougher for the car no. 2 Dodge team and Keselowski. After all odds he was content with the team’s effort and leading laps after making a strong effort for a second win at the Kentucky race weekend.
Keselowski added, “So I'm proud of the effort of this race team, but disappointed in the results. It's just a product of double-file restarts. That's why drivers hate them -- because some tracks are great and they put on a good show, and then there are tracks
like this where it just completely screws your day.”
He said the bumps in the lower lane at the Kentucky Speedway were the reason to hamper his run and he complained to NASCAR officials about that as well.
