Brad Keselowski scores pole position at Coca Cola 600 – NASCAR news
Penske Racing driver Brad Keselowski has earned the pole position for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race Coca Cola 600 which is scheduled to be held on Sunday at the Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Keselowski is the driver of the no. 2 Penske Racing Dodge. His best lap time on the 1.5-mile track was 28.112 seconds. He hit the top speed of 192.089mph for scoring the pole seat. Along with the pole position, he also won the second Coors Light Pole Award
of his NASCAR career.
Keselowski was asked about his improved performance after the qualifying round. He said, “Well, my crew chief Paul Wolfe, he lives off of Perth Road, so maybe he found some secrets there.”
He commented referring to the recent incident with Kyle Busch who was stopped by a county officer of Iredell County after he was found over speeding three times more than the allowed limit.
He added, “Other than that, he's making small gains every week. Sometimes they don't show up. Sometimes you make gains, and you can feel 'em, but you all [the media] don't see 'em. But as race car drivers, we go off the feel off of our [butt], and the feel
off my [butt] says the car's getting better. They're turning just a little bit better. The horsepower's getting just a little bit better, and I think that we have more in store.”
Keselowski outperformed A.J. Allmendinger and pushed him into second position on the starting grid. Allmendinger clocked a top speed of 191.693mph at the CMS. It will be his second consecutive Sprint Cup Series race for points scoring that he will start
from the outside the first row.
The All-Star Race winner Carl Edwards will start the race from third place on the grid. Denny Hamlin will start the race from outside the second row on fourth place at CMS. Jeff Burton was fifth to qualify for the race. Jimmie Johnson, David Reuitmann, Ricky
Stenhouse Jr. and Clint Bowyer completed the top ten positions.
