Bradford Bulls Elliott Whitehead slapped with eight-match ban
Bradford Bulls’ Elliott Whitehead has been charged with an eight-match ban in lieu of the decision taken by Rugby Football League in a convention on Tuesday, August 16.
This RFL board meeting was convened on Tuesday in which disciplinary action against the six alleged players was to be taken. These charges were raised during the Engage Super League Round 24 fixtures.
Whitehead was charged with the season-ending ban for biting Jordan Cox of Hull KR during Sunday’s Super Rugby encounter in which they lost 8-34 to the Hulls, at Odsal.
Biting is categorised as a grade E offence, which may result in a ban of six game as it was recently exercised on David Howell of Harlequins, after he has been proven guilty of charge.
Howell of Harlequins failed to overturn the charge against him and had to move towards his six-match ban which was handed over to him when he had bitten the scrum-half of Catalans, Remy Marginet.
With this ban imposed, he was ruled out of the remaining four matches of the current season and the two matches lined up in the beginning of the next season.
In lieu of Hulls’ win over Catalans, three players had to face the charges for breaking the code of discipline abide by the players.
However, with this suspension Whitehead will be sitting out of the remaining three games of this season and will miss out on the next year’s initial games as well.
Damien Blanch of the Dragons and English player, Kirk Yeaman are facing charges of Grade B offence for their late tackle and Gil Dudson of Crusaders is also enlisted amongst the alleged Grade B offenders.
Whereas, a Grade A offence will be answered by Ian Henderson of Catalans and Stuart Jones of Castleford Tigers for a dangerous tackle during the game.
Amongst the others who have received have been charged for the host of offences performed during the Super Rugby fixtures, there are also those who have been warned officially to discipline their game. Amongst the warned players are; Ryan McGoldrick of Castleford,
