Bradford Bulls humiliated by Warrington Wolves 6-64: Match Recap
Warrington Wolves bagged a massive victory of 64-6 against the Bradford Bulls, in an Engage Super League Encounter on July 31, at the Halliwell Jones Stadium. Wolves performed well after failing to be amongst the final eight of the Carnegie Challenge Cup
in after a tight clash of 22-26 against the Wigan Warriors.
Wolves, who sit on the second spot with in the Super League table, broke free of the pressure which was building on them after they had lost to the leaders, Wigans, to be ousted from the Challenge Cup 2011. However, the highlight of the clash was Brett Hodgson
of Wolves, who bagged the maximum number of points by scoring two tries and five goals.
Tony Smith’s outfit was treading into the match without Adrian Morley, on account of an injury. Also, Lee Briers will be ousted from the squad for almost a month on account of calf injury. Adding to the injury list is David Solomona, who is expected to return
by the end of this year. His knee injury initially was thought to take much longer than it actually did.
Wolves had set their lead during the initial half of the game, by scoring the inaugural points which contributed to the scoreboard almost a minute into the clash. Wolves had kept the opponents off the scoreboard during the entire first-half of the game.
Their distinguished performance and exhibit of power and pace kept the Paul Sykes and Patrick Ah Van of Bulls for adding to the points earned by their side.
The ball was swung along the length of the field after going through many exchanges between the either sides amidst four tackles. This was followed by pass from Richie Myler, which was successfully to score a try by Ryan Atkins.
Three minutes later Hodgson and Richie Myler reinforced to grant Matt King his try which was converted by Hodgson again.
Bulls were held back on the try line due to the strong defence offered by the Wolves. Their strong defence maintained throughout the run of the refrained Bulls from adding to the score boards until the second-half of the game.
However, the action just did not end there, this was closely followed by another try from Hodgson. Then he went for a pass to King, who took the ball to Atkins, ground the ball successfully twice.
Twenty one minutes into the game Wolves had cemented their lead of 16 nil with a goal scored by Chris Bridge.
This was closely followed by the second try of King which changed the score break-up to 20 nil during the twenty sixth minute of the game, building even more pressure on the Bulls and then the final contribution before the half-time was made by Joel
Monaghan, who scored the try which was converted by Hodgson 26-0. The Wolves lead was stretched to 32-0, which was followed by Monaghan’s second and third try.
On the 72nd minute of the game, Wolves were still going strong and the lead stretched to 58-0 with the fourth try from Atkin.
The only contribution from Bulls came during the last minute of the game, as Patrick Ah Van, converted his own try, after Monaghan placed his hatrick.
