Bradford Bulls secure utility back Adrian Purtell from Australian National Rugby League
English Rugby League side, Bradford Bulls Rugby League Club, has acquired the services of Adrian Purtell on a long-term contract. Officials at the club have confirmed the signing of Purtell
on an initial three-year contract in a statement released on their website on Wednesday, August 3.
New South Wales born Purtell is Australian professional Rugby League player and represents Penrith Panthers in the National Rugby League competition. He started his professional Rugby League
career with Canberra Raiders in 2006 and remained with Raiders for three seasons made 84 appearances and scored 30 tries.
The 26-year-old utility back Purtell joined the Panthers at the start of the 2010 season.  He has played over 39 games for Panthers and has scored 11 tries.
The versatile centre and winger player Purtell has expressed his delight on signing the new long-term deal with the Super League side.  He said, “I'm very happy with the decision I've made
for the next three years. It's good security for me because I will be 27 by the start of next season and entering the most important years of my career.”
Purtell added that playing for Bulls in Super League and Challenge Cup competition will provide him with a new challenge to play and compete with Rugby League players of the Southern Hemisphere.
He termed playing for Bulls as his ‘biggest challenge’.
Purtell has also praised the club’s working environment and behaviour of the staff. He expressed his confidence that he will play his part to deliver a good performance for the team next season.
Bradford Bulls head coach, Mick Potter, has expressed his delight at acquiring the services of the talent back’s player. He has praised Purtell’s skills, abilities and speed and termed his
signing as very beneficial for the team. He added, “Adrian has played virtually every game in first grade in the past two years, in every position from lock to the wing. He's a big guy with speed and he'll be an asset to our team next season.”
Commenting further, Potter added, “He wanted the security and we needed longevity in our signings so it's a good deal for both sides.”
Bulls have four more games remaining in the season and are currently placed at the 11th position in the 2011 Engage Super League table.
