Bradford Bulls signs Tongan international forwards players Manase Manuokafoa – Rugby League News
Odsal Stadium based English professional Rugby League club, Bradford Bulls, has announced the signing of former Tongan international forwards player, Manase Manuokafoa, to strengthen their squad for next season. Officials at the club have confirmed the deal with Manuokafoa on one-year deal in a statement released on their website on Saturday, October 15.
Manuokafoa currently is playing for the Australian professional Rugby League club, Parramatta Eels, in the National Rugby League (NRL) competition.
Bradford Bulls Football Manager, Stuart Duffy, has expressed his delight on claiming the former international utility forward and he called Manuokafoa a great addition to the squad. Besides Manuokafoa’s versatility, he has praised his personality attributes and rugby skills. He added, “His ability to get quick play the balls will also enhance our forward pack greatly and we are certainly looking forward to having him on board for 2012.”
Duffy further added, “He is a player who has been on Mick Potter's radar for some time and Mick's time in Australia has enabled him to meet with the player and complete the deal.”
The 26-year-old Manuokafoa started his professional Rugby League career in the NRL outfit South Sydney. He made 71 appearances for Sydney during his three-season stay at the club. He left Sydney at the end of the 2008 season to join North Queensland.
New South Wales born Manuokafoa joined Queensland at the start of the 2009 season, where he made 16 appearances during his 2-season stay at the club. In 2010, he joined Parramatta Eels.
Duffy has expressed his confidence that Manuokafoa will adjust to the Super League’s style. He expressed his hope that the team will benefit from Manuokafoa experience of playing in the NRL and at the international level.
Manuokafoa is 6 feet 5 inches tall and he made his international debut for Tonga in 2005. Additionally, he has also represented Tonga in the 2008 World Cup tournament.
Bulls finished tenth on the 2011 Super League competition table with their 20 points. They won nine of their 27 games in the season.
