Bradley Ally seizes Men’s 400m IM gold: Day three - 2012 Canada Swimming Cup
Bradley K Ally of Club Wolverine seized gold medal of the Men’s 400m Individual Medley (IM) on day three of the 2012 Canada Swimming Cup in Montreal on Saturday, July 7.
Ally served notice of his talent in the eight-lap IM event as he gave no chance to his competitors to retaliate and occupied gold medal of the discipline.
With his phenomenal efforts, he stayed considerably ahead of his opponents and reached the finishing wall for gold medal by clocking a wonderful time of 4 minutes and 21.50 seconds.
The champion was followed by Alec Page of Team Canada, who remained 6.15 seconds slower from his preceding swimmer and emerged on the finishing end for silver medal by producing a time of 4 minutes and 27.65 seconds.
Page was trailed by Jeffrey Swanston of Newmarket Stingrays, who stayed almost two seconds apart and occupied bronze medal of the discipline with the timing of 4 minutes and 29.56 seconds.
The bronze medallist was chased by Zach Summerhayes of Region of Waterloo, who remained approximately two seconds slower from securing his spot on the podium and finished fourth with an effort of 4 minutes and 31.83 seconds.
Fifth position of the discipline was obtained by Matthew Kwatyra of London Aquatic Club, who stayed almost three seconds slower and submitted a time of 4 minutes and 34.52 seconds.
Kwatyra was chased by Mack Darragh of Oakville Aquatic Club, who finished sixth in the event by reporting a time of 4 minutes and 34.80 seconds.
The 18-year-old Darragh was chased by Eric Hedlin of Island Swimming, who remained 0.17 seconds apart and posted a time of 4 minutes and 34.97 seconds for seventh position.
Hedlin was chased by Charles C Barry of Badger Swim Club, who remained half body length away from him and sprinted his way towards the finishing blockade as eighth position holder of the event by clocking a time of 4 minutes and 35.43 seconds.
In addition, Ally was highly satisfied with his feat in the distant IM discipline and pronounced his desire of representing his country at the Olympic Games.
