Bradley Beal drawing interest from powerhouses like Oklahoma City Thunder – NBA Update
This year`s NBA draft is filled with a lot of potentially great players with Anthony Davis leading the way and all set to be drafted as the number one pick by New Orleans Hornets.
Charlotte Bobcats hold the number second pick this year and Bradley Beal is projected to be their selection, but they are not the only from whom he has been attracting attention. The exciting young point guard has suitors all across
the NBA.
According to recent reports, Western Conference powerhouses Oklahoma City Thunder have shown immense interest in signing Beal by moving up the draft, which has left the young guard out of Florida very excited about his future.
“It's really interesting. I would love to play with Kevin Durant. (Russell) Westbrook, great point guard. Just the whole team. It's young -- I would love to play with a young team. They play fast. I'd love to get up and down, shoot
the ball. Overall, whatever situation I land in I'll be happy." – Beal
OKC general manager Sam Presti told Beal in an interview in Chicago that they have huge interest in bringing the young guard to the Thunder roster and will be looking to move up the draft to acquire him. At present, Thunder’s first
round selection is not till the number 28th pick.
"He told me he was going to decide what they're going to do and considered getting up there," Beal said.
There had been reports previously that Presti has been in continuous talks with Florida coach Billy Donovan to discuss Beal`s future. He also paid a three day visit to watch him play while the last season was in lockout, and it
was confirmed by Beal on Wednesday.
The only scenario at the moment which can bring Beal to OKC is if they choose trade away James Harden, who has only one year left on his contract. With Durant and Westbrook signed on long term deals, it would be best option to
avoid tax problems while maintaining a strong team.
Nevertheless, there is a huge risk involving the trade because if the transfer is made, OKC would be breaking up a team which has been playing together immensely for the past four years and made it all the way to the NBA Finals
this year, albeit in a losing cause.
OKC are not the only team with great interests in Beal. The list of team’s which have shown interest include the likes of San Antonio Spurs, Denver Nuggets and Atlanta Hawks, all of whom have called coach Donovan to discuss Beal`s
future.
