Bradley Klahn battles past John Millman in the first round – Sacramento Challenger 2012 CH 
American wild card entrant, Bradley Klahn, summed up his straight sets 7-6(0), 6-4 win against the Aussie, John Millman, in the first round of the Sacramento Challenger 2012, held at the hard courts of California.
The local challenger jolted his triumph in nearly one hour and 38 minutes on Tuesday.
The opener displayed a tough competition between the two contenders, as they desperately wanted to stamp their lead. Both players held their serve throughout, giving each other a tough competition. The score
line evened out after every alternate game, displaying their classic run of form. Klahn emerged as a surprising victory with a 7-6(0) after a tiebreaker.
The right-hander Aussie had a superior initial serve precision of 63 percent, with 18 of 24 first and seven of 14 second serve points. On the other hand, the American junior had 44 percent first serve, converting
15 of 16 first and 14 of 20 second delivery points. He was given two break point opportunities he was unable to capitalize on even one.
The 22-year-old, Klahn, commenced a classic start to the second set as he busted the Aussie’s initial serve. He clinched the initial three games without facing any hindrance, to stamp a 3-love lead. He did not
commit a single error in his serves and successively bagged away all the points. Millman broke his rival’s serve in the ninth game but it was a little too late. Klahn nudged forward and stole the set with his 6-4 win.
The world number 346th, Klahn, bombarded five aces onto his challenger but displayed 65 percent initial serve precision. He secured the lead by attaining 12 of 15 first and five of eight second delivery
points. Fortunately, he won two of the four break points gifted onto him. The 23-year-old Aussie had 51 percent initial serve accuracy, with 11 of 18 first and just eight of 17 second serve points in his bag. Although he secured even the single serve break,
he was unable to establish his lead.
For the next match, Klahn will battle against the winner of the match between Greg Jones and his compatriot, Denis Kudla.
